My sister is in CT and your house reminds me of the houses in her area.

Actually, the reason our realtor steered us to this kind of house is that, apparently, people originally from my area prefer it. Many of the homes around me are far, far larger with enormously high ceilings. (We only have a high ceiling in one room!) The other homes are primarily brick and they tend to be in subdivions where there is no privacy. Each family has its own castle on a small parcel of ground with no trees or tiny, new trees, but the homes themselves are far grander and newer than this old house!!!

Deborah

PS-Where in Connecticut is your sister?
My sister is in Middlebury and one of my brothers is in Southbury and another brother is in Storrs. Actually, the setting of your house with the fence and land and trees reminds me of driving through CT more than the house itself reminding me of my sister''s house. Hers is one of those two hundred year old things with the high celilings.

AGBF, your new house is beautiful! I love all the land, and the many trees. It''s certainly not the typical California house! The windows looking out at the trees are really nice and the hardwood floors are beautiful. Nothing like looking at nature instead of neighbors. Enjoy all the beautiful space.

Oh Deb, I''m so happy for you! After all the postage stamp sized lots you spoke of in your previous neighborhood I did even realize that you were moving to such a large property (how large *is* it?) with such a huge house!!!! Please direct me to the thread that shares the story of how you ended up moving. I know I read it but can''t remember which thread it was in.

Biscuit looks quite happy there. Your home is lovely. Thank you for inviting us in.

I thank all of you for the compliments and good wishes! As I have mentioned, there is to be a reorganization announced at the company where my husband works, complete with massive lay-offs. If he loses this job we will probably leave the big house and yard and return to the postage stamp-sized kind of lot we had in Connecticut!

Lisa, I thought I told you our story via e-mail. No? It was a hard year. My husband lost his job in August 2003 ( a lay-off) and went to outplacement in a suit every weekday to look for a job. He found one after 10 months of fruitless searching and it involved relocation. As he was about to start, he had a heart attack. He had to have angioplasty on two arteries and his heart stopped while I was at his side. A code was called, I was escorted out, and a Methodist minister came to hold my hand. He was so young and sweet that for the first time in a year I cried. (There is nothing like kndness to make one cry!!!) My husband 's heart *did* start to beat again!

We hadn't known if my husband *could* accept the new job. He was well enough to do so and they didn't refuse to hire him for medical reasons. So we moved.

Now if he is laid off we have to decide what to do next. Life is an adventure.

OK, now I know I have had a busy year, but I surely would have remembered if you mentioned the heart attack and the whole hospital scene. I certainly remember his job loss back last year. I also recall getting an email from you stating in context that life was busy and you were moving so your puter connection would be nil for a while, but I have no recollection of those circumstances. I''m so sorry that you had such a close call but am sure relieved that he is OK. Do enjoy your beautiful new home and I will pray that you will be able to keep it. Most important is that his health continue to improve.

Hugs

Of course you may! We have invited *everyone* we know to come, and one couple from Connecticut actually joined us for our first night in the house-boxes and all! We are lonely so far from our family and friends and very much want people to feel comfortable visiting us!!!

Deb :)
