Somewhere in here are pictures of our house before we moved in...

We didn''t paint every room, but the ones we did paint (upstairs guest bathroom, basement, and kitchen) are BIG changes. And now we have actually put furniture in and some decor on the walls, etc. It''s a home now, and not just an empty house.

So, since you all were so helpful (and endured my endless posts during the house search), here are some pictures of the place we call home.

I still need some suggestions for colors for the guest room (still an empty space right now). We haven''t put up the ceiling fans we bought over two months ago, either. The list is never complete, I suppose.

Anyway, first the bathroom that used to be pink, with some kind of glued on dried flowers.

Before.....

Eww, what''s up with that resolution?

Hmmph.

Anyway, this is the color. I think it''s fun and funky and once there is a baby in our lives (and here''s hoping it''s soon!!), it will be a great color for a kiddo''s bathroom, too. Some kind of safari theme or something, maybe.

Okay, I''m going to pause the picture show and ask Paul to show me how to fix whatever I''m doing wrong.

Here is another shot of the funky bathroom.

I was very proud of this room. Paul hated it for the ifirst week. He said it was so bright it was glowing. It''s grown on him now, though.

That and we never use it, so he rarely sees it.

Paul said that would fix the color issue with the pictures. Oh well, grainy it is, I guess.

This is the living room. I really like the lamps we got (they were a Christmas present from my mother-in-law).

This is the mantle over the fireplace. Absolutely my favorite part of the house is the fireplace. Can't wait for it to get just a touch cooler so I can talk Paul into lighting it up!!

The picture on the far right is from our realtor. It's us on the day we found out the bank was accepting our offer. Happy, happy!!! Our first picture in front of our first house.

This is the living room (I should have turned on a light or two). Paul''s flopped in the chair. He said it would make it seem more "lifelike" (we sent the pictures to my mom in California, who''s not been to visit since we bought the house; she only saw it empty before we closed).

The coffee table/ottoman is something I''m pretty proud of. I reupolstered it myself and it turned out very cute!

This is along the table by the window in the living room. The center picture is our wedding picture, the ones on either side are our parents''. A friend of mine has this at her house, and ever since I saw it, I''ve always wanted to have it set up that way in my own house. Now that we finally have ROOM for things to be on display, we finally have it, too.

This is the breakfast nook.

I put up the new light fixture myself. It took a *long* time, but I think it looks great! (Especially compared to the Addam''s family style contraption that was previously there.)

This is the hallway from the breakfast nook to the front door. No remodeling or painting or anything, but it''s still part of the house.

On either side of the hallway are picture frames of our engagement.

This is the BEFORE color in the kitchen.

Bleh!!!

(Yeah, no clue why a desk chair was left in the kitchen.)

FISHARGHKITCHENBEFORE.JPG

This is the border that was up around the kitchen. We thought it was apples until we pulled it down. It''s dirty looking pears. Not a fan.

And I also changed out the hardware on the cabinets. This is the before shot of the golden handles (I''m a white gold girl!!).

FisharghkitchenbeforeIIg.GIF

This is the kitchen NOW. Popping green color. They call it "catus green," but to me, it''s an apple green with a little extra pop.

I had originally wanted to do lime green, but this was a color that Paul and I compromised on. He wanted yellow or tan. It was a good compromise!! (Much closer to my green than his choices.)

fisharghkitchen.GIF

This is the color up close. I love it! It did take a minute to get used to, but now it''s like it was always that color.

The new hardware I picked out is almost like a soft zig-zag shape. I really like the way it looks, and it''s also comfortable to grip. And, it''s silver. Yay!!

This is the dining room.

No changes in this room, other than putting in the hutch, table, and a couple of pieces of art.

We got the table at a yard sale. It's BEAUTIFUL and was only like 50 bucks or something.

I love yard sales. People want to get rid of great stuff sometimes!

(Paul's parents were coming over to dinner that day; I wanted to take a picture with the table set. haha)

This is our bedroom.

I took the picture from this crazy angle because Paul had all kinds of clothes piled on the bed that day and I didn''t feel like picking up after him. Haha. I just wanted my mom to have "proof" that we do have a bedroom, too!

This is the color the bedroom was when we moved in. We love it!

It''s like sage with a deeper, richer tone. It goes really well with our comforter set. It''s a soft purple color with some greenery (not flowers, but kind of) that almost totally matches the walls. It''s a nice combination. We got the bedding for our wedding; it''s amazing how things end up matching, 1.5 years later!!

The people who lived here before loved, and I mean *loved* ivy. The only ivy that I''ve not been able to paint over or scrub off has been on the shade in the bathroom. It''s the only ivy left in the house.

Any ideas how to get tough paint off a shade, anyone?

Eventually, I''d like to paint the mustard colored walls in here, but for now, it''s fine.

fisharghmasterbath.GIF

This is the stairway looking down.

I really only posted this because FlipFlop got caught in the picture.

The dogs *LOVE* having a house to play in and a yard, too. They''re so much better dogs these days. Seriously.

This is what will be the baby's room.

All those movies are VHSs that Paul's mother has been saving for years, for her grandbaby. When we moved in, she presented that to us for the "baby room," along with a VHS player, which is hard to find these days.

There are more than are on that stand. I've not taken them all out of the boxes yet. Seriously, she's been saving Disney movies for YEARS. Many of them haven't even been opened from the shrink wrap. It's insane.

(I lied earlier when I said all the ivy was gone. It's still in this room. But over the window is a bird nest with a little baby birdie in it. I'm tempted to take away the ivy when we paint, but leave the nest. I don't know, it just seems so cute for a baby room. This wasn't a nursery or child's room for the previous owners.)

fisharghbabyroom.GIF

Speaking of insane, this is the baby''s closet.

Yeah, the baby we don''t have yet.

Can you tell we''re eagerly awaiting the day we become parents?

No joke...

I can''t find a picture we''ve taken of the house since the leaves came out. Crazy. This picture was taken in February when we first saw the house.

We closed and moved in on May 16.

Hmm... I need to find a better picture.

Here''s the house (just imagine the trees with leaves and an American flag flying high at the porch steps).

fisharghhouse.GIF

Picture time is over now. Thanks for letting me post the changes we''ve made.

This weekend we''re putting up our Fall Decor. I love fall so much!!

Looks great fisher! I cannot believe you already have baby clothes...what if you have all boys or all girls? Haha. Too funny.

Yeah, I''m a nut, Tacori. Um, I started in late high school, buying for my neices and nephew, and they would outgrow it before my sister in law could even put it on them. Then I met Paul and while he thought it was silly, he now encourages it.
9.gif

I figure if we never have a baby, or have a baby at all the wrong seasons for the clothes we have, well, then we get to bless others with babies. It won''t go to waste.

By the way, I thought of you when I was decorating the upstairs bathroom. The shower curtain was my inspiration. It''s nothing but lots of crazy circles in gray, white and black.
9.gif

I noticed the circles! And approved of course. Funny how Paul didn''t like the bright color since our kid''s bathroom is lime green. DH was not happy. It is bright but it matches our shower curtain (chocolate brown with lime green, white, and dark teal circles) perfectly. Plus it is fun.n Isn''t being a homeowner the best?!?

Fisher, your home is BEAUTIFUL! I absolutely love your yard sale table... doesn''t it just make you feel so good when you such a great deal?! And the new kitchen looks amazing as well.... I LOVE that color. Do you know what brand of paint the cactus green is?

Hey Oobie,

I want to say it''s DutchBoy. I have all the color swatches in the garage. I''ll have to check to be certain.

Thanks for the compliments. It''s a great color, and the paint went on really well.

We had to do four (yes FOUR) coats of primer paint, since the red that was there before was really dark and it kept seeping through. But it was worth it. The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms now.

We want to change the backsplash, but that''s a job for another day... :) I want to do those tiny little tiles, like a mosaic. It would be fun. Don''t know when that day will come, though. I''d also like to get a rolling island for the middle of the kitchen, since it''s so big. But it''s more of a want than a need, so it too will come later on, perhaps.

Your house looks great! It feels so warm and inviting! You guys have done a great job. Haha - you crack me up with the baby closet! Good for you!

Fisher, it is so nice to be virtually welcomed into your home and to get the grand tour of your lovely abode. I''m so happy for you and Paul and wish you the very best. Congrats on your new home!!! I''m no good at suggestions for colors or I''d offer them...it looks to me like you''ve made the place "yours" and I wouldn''t change a thing.
