Hello. Are any of you rock advisors familiar with "The Original Radiant Cut" diamond and have any opinions on it? A local jeweler (not a "chain store") is getting 3 in for me to look at. I viewed a .72 carat rectangular one at his store about 2 weeks ago and thought it was very sparkly. He is now getting 3 in for me to view; a center VS1, F color, 1.21 cwt., "excellent cut", non-cutlet, non-flourescent. Depth 68.7, Table 67, dimensions 7.19 x 5.49 x 3.79. Girdle "med-thk". Polish & symmetry both G. I would prefer for the polish and sym. to be VG, but have had no success finding radiants with these specs on line as well. Anyway, he is getting this center diamond and 2 matching sidestones (also VS1 and F color) with a combined cwt. of .95. Price $11,000.

Anyone have comments on the dimensions? They seem to fall nicely within the recommended parameters for the AGA guidelines for radiants, except for the depth. The depth is a little deep, but I was told that that is because this diamond is a rectangular shape. The "Original Radiant Cut" only tolerates a maximum depth of 64.9% on an absolutely square diamond. The rectangular shape will have a larger face-up surface so it should allow for slightly increased depths? So the web-site and literature says . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ?? What is your opinion on this? Also, overall opinion on the specs. and price for 3? I have done an extensive search on line on many sites for rectangular shaped radiants and have not been able to beat these specs. and find 3 that match, keeping the diamonds VS2 or higher, F color or higher, and center stone in the 1.20+ and sides at .45+ . Thank you for your anticipated response/advice!

Hello. Thanks for the pictures - - beautiful ring. I appreciate the opportunity to view different settings here on pricescope. This is a great service for diamond buyers! I went to Gordon''s Jewelers and Littman''s today at the mall, just to get an idea of the look of a 3 stone (square or princess) diamond ring in the sizes I have been after.

Any Rock Advisors have any comments on the specs/parameters of the diamonds I am considering? Here are the parameters again:

Original Radiant Cut diamonds.
Center stone 1.21 cwt.
F color
VS1 clarity
"excellent cut"
68.7 depth
67 table
Cutlet - non
Non-flourescent
Polish VG
Symmetry G.

Side stones .47 each and matching quality (all VS1, F). Quoted $11,000 for all 3. I will definitely get them independently appraised as you advise on this site. They come with a GIA cert., which I viewed, as well as their own certificate from "The Original Radiant Cut" company. I saw all 3 today, and they are all very clean. Nice sparkle - - "crushed ice" look as described by someone here on the forum.

I asked the jeweler today to TRY to get me a center stone with less depth in the same parameters, even slightly larger carat wgt. if need be. But these seem to be VERY hard to come by.

So, do any of you diamond experts and rock hounds think this set of rocks sounds good?

Thank you very much!

I''m not an expert, so I can''t opine by just looking at the numbers. But I will give it a bump so others can chime in!

Good luck to you!

I have seen Original Radiant cut diamonds, and without a doubt they are beautiful. I think they are all cut extremely well, and I wouldn''t worry too much about the depth being a bit high. For a generic one, I would probably look for a lower depth one, but I don''t think you have anything to worry about with the Originals. I do know the Originals do have a bit of a price premium associated with them, but I equate it to buying a Hearts and Arrows round diamond. You get the peace of mind knowing you''re buying a well-cut stone. So, if you really like this ring, you should get it.

The owner of the company posted helpful info here until one of his vendors was asked to leave for misbehaviour.

We miss him.
He knows his stuff - but like all products - there will be better and worser - or in this case - best and nearly best. The only way to know for sure is look at lots of stones, use a savvy appraiser or an ASET scope

Thank you for the responses, and the bump SusieQZ. I know there are a few radiant fans out there! I have read, and read, and read on this forum (and done searches, etc.) so I have been trying to inform myself and take the time and read posts. So, I am not being lazy. I have actually been researching diamonds - radiants in particular - for about 6-7 weeks now. I have only seen one other radiant in my searches because I live in a very small town (pop. 13,000) kinda in the "middle of nowhere"! It is a 2.5 - 3 hour drive to any metropolitan city. The jewelers around here do not favor the radiants, and I have come to understand why. But the 3 (matched) radiants I am looking at do seem quite fine. The other radiant that I saw was a Hearts on Fire Dream diamond, and if I am not mistaken, it is basically their brand of radiant that is square in dimensions?

Anyway, I came up with another question that I do not believe I saw answered in the posts I have read. Does "The Original Radiant Cut" diamond have a particular kind of cutting or faceting that other cutters of radiants may or may not follow? In other words, are there different ways to facet or cut a radiant? I have read this kind of implied or alluded to on this forum during my searches. Maybe I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I was not sure if this is what was being implied or said!?

Thanks you SOOOOOOOOOO much one and all. I have NEVER shopped for diamonds before. My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in May. I have worn a sapphire with two small side diamonds as my engagement ring (which I LOVE) for all these years. And I have my husbands grandmothers round diamond (with 2 tanzanites) as a right hand ring. But for all intents and purposes I am still very much an OLD newbie, doing my first ever diamond researching!
