Original E-rings and Upgrades...comparing diamond sizes

Nyc2chigal ! I love your Daussi 3 stone. It's so unique and beautiful. :appl: :appl:

BTW Dreamer_D that last comparison with the RB and your OEC is amazing. What a stunning shot to capture.

I don't have pics of my original ering that he proposed w/-the stone fell out after a couple months. It was small, maybe .10, and from Greenbergs. Now I have my AVC three stone from Single Stone, and it's 1.67 I believe.

Oh, how I wish I had a better picture of my first ring.

My first engagement ring was a pre-owned Tiffany's. We had many fights over the ring and in ally decided to get a new one. Now I've been married for 2 years and am very happy with my new ring. I'm already thinking about getting a small cushion or an OEC as a second e-ring though :p

FYI--my finger size is a loose 6.5:
Original ER .81ct MRB (recut into bezel pendant--do not have a handshot of it)
1st upgrade 1.9ct MRB (in halo)
2nd upgrade 3ct MRB (in 3 stone)
Future upgrade...still deciding! May have to consider selling my 1.9ct to help fund my next upgrade, though! ;(

Demelza took it! The trick is to hold you hand up so that the bright sunlight shines from behine your hand, and the hand blocks the direct light from hitting the camera. Gorgeous pictures of diamonds every time.

My original ering was a 1.02 RB that I had in a basic setting and then I upgraded to a verragio halo. I was able to sell that ring and I now have my 1.57 pear.

Dreamer....I feel like I was following you! I love your precious!!!

Yes! The faceting on our diamonds are fairly different, but the size and style are similar!

The mount really makes it for me. When worn my diamond looks the same as a 2.5ct at 8.7mm. That little extra size boost made all the difference in the world, along with the lovely profile of course. The right mount made the ring for me. I know at this point that I cannot afford a diamond over 2ct, so this is a good style for me! I don't like regular bezels though, or diamond halos, and the dlicacy of this bezel is ideal: only .3mm! So perfect. I hope you will find a mount that equally gets you aflutter!

Demelza and I have compared, if anyone is interested. 2.5ct RB on top at 8.8mm an my 1.89ct in a bezel on the bottom at 8.7mm including the bezel.

The thing is now if I ever wayted a "bigger" look I would need at least a 9.5mm diamond  That is sufficiently out of reach to keep me loving my ring :rodent:

My absolute two favorites photographed magnificently.

DS, your new AVR is TDF!!! No comparison...I just love those chunky facets!

I wish I had a more useful finger comparison like the one you did DS but unfortunately I didn't have my original when I got my upgrade and when I had my original I didn't get good pics. Here's the best I can do...
My OEC 4.56 (LVS1) and my original MRB 2.93 (GVS2)
(and for fun I added a fun closeup of the facets :sun: )

Wow, Athena and Laila-those halos make a huge difference! Great pics!

I think my eyeball just popped out onto my keyboard. Holy smoke! You're boulder is gorgeous.

Am I the only woman on the planet who did an "upgrade" by utilizing the same center stone? I had a 1.7 carat platinum solitaire and I had it redesigned to a halo utilizing the same stone. I guess I wasn't really thinking of it in terms of an upgrade - I was just so tired of the setting and it really didn't match my style (it was too traditional for me).
If I decide to upgrade someday, I'd get a big, fancy intense yellow diamond (probably in a halo setting).

Around pricescope we call that a "reset" and you are faaar from the only woman on the planet to do it for an anniversary or other special occasion! But you can call it whatever you like  I don't think there is a dictionary for diamond nuts!

Oh, okay. Calling it a reset makes more sense. I didn't do my reset for nay special occasion - just because I wanted to. It's funny, all of my friends think I got an upgrade and they are shocked when I tell them it's just my old stone in a new setting.

Well, if memory serves me right, that little yellow gold pendant that used to be my first engagement ring was about .30 (from the BX), the pear .84 (G with Fluor and SI1 eye clean) and my recent upgrade 2.24 K, VS1 late old euro. The pendant maintains the style of the ring with that little swirl-too sentimental to change it.

Everyone has such beautiful rings, both original and new. Loving the OECs in particular.

Here is a my original e-ring and my new stone. I actually went down in size from 2.4 to 2.1 The new stone is an AGS000 D color SI1 and the pear original is H color, VS2. The inclusions in both stones are very minor and not at all visible to the naked eye - my 24 year old daughter confirms this as her eyesight is perfect, just like mine used to be  . Unfortunately both stones needed a good cleaning but I didn't do it before I took this photo since I was too excited.

Yesterday (June 22) was our 28th wedding anniversary and my DH was so sweet to drive over this super huge & UBER scary bridge (well, to me anyways...) to pick up a Jewel Jet delivery for me, in upstate NY at the UPS store. Got it home and have cleaned all my stash, so in honour of our anniversary, I've been wearing my TEENY TINY MICROSCOPIC original ering!! .33ct, marquis, no idea colour/clarity, YG and size 7.75.

Around our 20th, I was given some money and upgraded to a platinum princess solitaire 1.06 F - which is now the centre stone beside 2 .50's in this pic.

I usually wear the 3 stone as my ering now. size 7.75

Last November I had my 1.68 OEC set by IDJ and I flip back and forth between BGD 3 stone or the OEC as my ering. size 8.
Here's a shot of my what I rotate around now, on my LH/RH in different combo's. First to last, top to bottom.

ETA: - found a pic of when the princess was a solitaire

Happy Anniversary Enerchi! :appl: You have such a beautiful collection of rings, you've come a long way baby! :D My first ering was .33 carats as well - a round in a yg setting. Congrats on 28 years - amazing how fast the years go by, isn't it?

Happy Anniversary Enerchi!!! Here's to another 28 happy and healthy!!! :appl:
Love your collection!

Thank you both, Junebug and Missy!!! And as per 24 of the last 28 years.... it rained!!! Downpoured just like on our wedding day! Animals walking by, two by two, old man with a long beard, building a boat on a hill... ;))

Isn't it amazing, Junebug, that what seemed so 'normal' at .33cts - even a honkin' .50 ct stone "way back when!"... now seems so small?? Yup, after a while that DSS is a powerful affliction, not doubt about it!! Now, DH and I refer to my original ering as 'the cute ring' :D
