I’m fairly new here on PS, been lurking in the diamond section for some time.
I got this ring as a 40th birthday present from my father. He said it is an orange saphire. Sadly I have no cert. Don’t even know the carat weight, much less if it is treated in any way. I assume he would not have had it set in gold and with a diamond halo if it is totally worthless. I think it was previously owned by my stepmother. My dad has lived in a lot of places and traveled the world for his job. He is very interested in jewelry
What price range approximately coud it be. Not looking to sell, just curious. Thank you!

In the late 90's early 2000 orange sapphires exploded in availability due to B.E treatment, your best bet would be to send it to AGL or GIA and insure its not Beryllium diffused. If its been diffused with B.E not much value, heat only $300-$450 a ct wholesale and unheated $500 a ct unheated would be my guess value wise.

To add on to what Kevin said, AGL charges $80 for a "Gem Brief" for a mounted stone. Not too bad to find out exactly what you have. Their turnaround is running 3 - 4 weeks.

Thank you so much for your help:wavey:
