Hey all, I have a 5-stone MRB diamond ring to sell, and I’m not really sure how much I should ask for it, so I was going to consign with <a popular vendor>. For some reason I can’t seem to get through to them; maybe my emails are going to spam? and I was wondering if I can get suggestions for places that might take the ring?

Have you tried contacting them through Instagram or other social media? Some vendors are slower to reply to emails but if you message them through social media you may get a faster response. I haven't consigned, so can't say who to recommend. Also, you can always try to sell it yourself via Loupe Troop if you have enough information to describe it.

Thank you! That’s a great idea.

Would I just say “best offer” on LT?

I wouldn't do it that way. Look around for comparable rings to get an idea of price. Then pick a price and say open to offers if you are.

Do you have any information on the stones? Size, color, clarity?

Ok so the middle stone was a family stone, .80, FVS, that I had recut by BGD. So it’s uncerted but cut to ideal proportions.

The other 4 stones (graduating down in size) 14E793D1-90E6-4163-A7CD-ACDA3A350941.jpeg are all certed/inscribed BGD signature ideal stones. I can’t find the certs for the middle stones but I know they’re in the house somewhere. I do know they’re Gs.

The smallest stones are 20something points each, Gs.

The ring is 18k yellow gold, made by Love Affair Diamonds’s bench. There is also a separate (original) 18k rose gold trellis setting by BGD that I could include. I believe the rings are a size 8.75.

Well, it's a very pretty ring with nice stones. Try to look around for comps of pre-loved rings. I can't help you with pricing but maybe someone else can. You shouldn't expect retail.

If you have BGD Super-Ideal stones, I'd look at their inventory for similar stones and note the prices -- check out Whiteflash too -- then take the total of today's stone prices for the five stones and reduce by 10-30% (more for quick sale, less if you prefer to keep rather than sell at a loss) -- of course the center stone, the family re-cut diamond, is the most valuable stone but try to find all of the diamond certificates as that's the only way to confirm the diamonds are BGD Super Ideal.

Good luck!

Have you talked with BGD and/or Loveaffair for assistance or advice? No one knows more about selling an artists work than them.

This is a pretty ring. I bet you would get interest in Pre-loved.

Do you have your original receipt for the stones? That may have the cert. numbers listed.

I found this! I was way off about some of the info. I had forgotten the stone was .80 BEFORE it was recut. And the smallest stones are actually H&A melee, uncerted, so I’m not actually missing any certs!

Also found my original BGD glamour shots.

Unfortunately, LAD does not really exist any more, afaik. I feel like BGD might not be that helpful, but I can certainly try! Thsnks!

Sorry to throw a wet blanket on consignment but I would not do it. If a diamond dealer has not offered to buy your ring, they don’t have money! Why would you give your diamond to someone who does not have money to buy the ring outright? If they go south, you go south and you have no recourse. Find another avenue to sell your ring. Recent event of a big time watch dealer taking millions in on consignment and going south due to lots of internal problems, since the people offered up their watch, they have no legal grounds to recover.

JMO of course and not exactly what you asked, but my two cents is that you usually take such a loss on selling jewelry that I'd consider just keeping it. It looks lovely on your hand, by the way. :)
