im in the process of choosing a band for my future fiances ring....i have the diamond picked out....what is the ideal size (2.3mm?)....and i was thinking of 3 pointers halfway around the sides AND on the the other 2 sides (im gonna go for three-sided style) what size do you prefer?....i wanna make it so the 1.55 RB G SI1 really "pop" and looks big.....just looked in previous post and kind of want it to look like "SLAMMIES" ring if you guys remember hers

Slammie''s ring is gorgeous and what you have described sounds lovely. I too like rings with thinner bands around 2mm. I think they do make the center stone pop and they are a very delicate look that is very in style right now.

Have you discussed the setting at all with her or do you plan on keeping it a surprise? If you don''t care about it being a surprise I would try to get her input on what she would like to wear.

no its def. a surprise....she did almost a year ago threw the michael b. advertisement at me (and i kept it ever since) so i know what look she wants....so any more opinions??....please

The thinner the better as far as the size "popping" but it also depends on what her fingers look like.

If they are long and skinny they can better carry off say a 2mm or smaller setting. IMO shorter/wider fingers need something a smidge wider to look proportional. But that is just my opinion...

2mm is very very thin, so only go that thin if you know she likes the look. Otherwise, I think 2.5 is a safe bet for most women.

yeah, she''s a 6.5....so i guess i should go 2.3-2.4??

Depends. I am a shy six and I LOOOOVE my 1.8 Ritani band. But I just went ring shopping with two of my best girlfriends, and they didn''t like the super thin bands on their fingers. Unfortunately, I would say it really all depends on the person.

But I DO think that 2.3 is a pretty safe size for most women, so I think you should be good with that width. Even a flat out 2mm would be great if you know she does like thinner rings.

Is there any way you could ask a friend for help on this? It''s a big decision and unless you''re getting her a ring you are positive she will like ON (because in a magazine is much different than on her hand) one of her good friends might be able to give you some insight.

If she showed you a michael b advertisement, I think it''s pretty safe to say she likes the "very thin" look and I''d stay in the 1.6mm to 2.2mm range. Ditto what others have said about the ritani set, it''s one of my favorite and allows the band to sit flush and is reasonably priced.

anyone else?

I think 2.3-2.4 would be a great size. I agree that if she liked the rings in a Michael B. ad, this would be a safe size to stick to. I''d stay within 2.0-2.5 mm.

ahhhhhh...slammies ring is to die for!!! the mere mention of it makes me drool.
