This facet design is much better for Oval shape than the traditional design which creates bowtie.

That video was so bizarre. Upon first viewing it made it look like the table was the pavilion view. Aside from that the diamond looks nice to me.

Agree! There must be something wrong with the video. Otherwise I dont understand it...

Request and aset to double check.

Is it not just a standard oval shape but an 8-main pavilion??

I'm not personally seeing the optical illusion of the table being the pavilion :???: lol

Very pretty oval - if I was in the market, I'd snap it up so I could examine it in person.

eta: I also don't see anything weird about the video

Thanks for the input, everyone! That was odd on the video... who knows.

@OoohShiny - Perhaps this is just more common than I thought, but was referring to really the facets on the face of the diamond. If you look at the left-hand images of the two below I think it's more obvious (where the first is the diamond from the video):

Thank goodness it wasn’t just me! The weird thing is that I checked again and it looks fine now.

Ahhhh, I see what you mean now - it's like the cutter has rotated the crown facets by half a facet!

I think it would be quite cool to have a 'different' stone like that, but then I like to be different from others  lol

Checked it now and I still see it!:shifty: I had planned to write that the seller must have corrected it... but no. Still strange imo.
Maybe it is like that gold/blue dress, a weird visual illusion??

Ha, yes. That's how I felt about it, so actually bought the stone; but wanted to sanity check to see if I was making a crazy mistake for any reason.

For reference: I actually reached out to GIA directly about it, and their response indicated that it's less typical but increasingly common to see this style of cut. Evidently they don't view it as having any impact on the quality of the stone either, so I guess that helps too.

@coloneloftruth please post lots of pics when you get it, looks so interesting! also, nice screenname ;)
