The diamond looks promising but there is a discrepancy: The dimensions result in a 63.1% depth. The given carat weight of 0.74 is in-line with a girdle thickness of 3.4% (thick, as indicated above) which would also result in a depth of 63.1%. Is it given as 60.1% on the report or is that a typo, perhaps?

For the record, if the depth were 60.1%, the girdle would need to be thin (around 0.5%), the mm would be 5.69 - 5.72 x 3.42 and the total carat weight would be 0.66 ct.

. The depth is 62.9 and not 60.1. Here are the corrected numbers:

Report Type: GIA Diamond Grading Report
Date of Issue: January 7, 2007
Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.69 – 5.72 x 3.59 mm
Carat Weight: .74
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Very Good
Proportions:
Depth: 62.9%
Table: 58 %
Crown Angle: 35.0°
Crown Height: 15 %
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 55 %
Lower Half: 75 %
Girdle: Medium to thick
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very good
Fluorescence: Faint

Clarity Characteristics on GIA report includes Indented Natural

I re-ran the numbers on the cut advisor and got a 1.9 with
Light Return Very Good
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread Very Good

You guys are amazing. I've learned a lot from this forum. Thanks again for any opinions on the stone.

In that case, I think it''s a little too deep, although it probably won''t negatively impact performance much. The table is a tad large as well, I think you could find a better stone.

Thanks for your advice kcoursolle. It''s very difficult knowing what makes a good stone even after reading a ton. I have another stone I''m considering...it''s a tad smaller but here are the numbers:

Report Type: GIA Diamond Grading Report
Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.66 – 5.69 x 3.52 mm
Carat Weight: .70
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Ideal
Proportions:
Depth: 62 %
Table: 57 %
Crown Angle: 35.0°
Crown Height: 15 %
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 55 %
Lower Half: 75 %
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very good
Fluorescence: Medium Blue
Price: $2130

1.7 on HCA

Should I be concerned about the Medium Blue fluorescence? I''ve read that the fluorescence can help with H colored stones. Thanks again to everyone on this board for a great learning experience!

I just noticed that instead of Ideal, I should have put Excellent for the Cut Grade.

I''m about to pull the trigger on this diamond. I''d really appreciate any honest opinions about the stone. Is it a good deal? And is there anything I''m missing in the stats that will hurt the stone''s performance? Thanks again!

Hi quick,

Without any images to go on, all I can say is, it looks very promising!
