Hello. Thank you all very much in advance for your time in reading this and for any replies; I appreciate it. In short, I have been lurking for awhile and have decided to choose a RB that is under 1 carat and AGS0. I was initially thinking of getting a .9 or slightly larger, but the more I think about it (and for budgetary reasons - that and my GF is not "blingy" and truly does not care regarding the carat weight or want a large center stone), I've been thinking about going with a .8 RB. With that said, what are your opinions regarding the proportions of the below stone (the below specs are taken from the AGS cert)? Do you think that a 6.0 mm would face up decently large in a round halo setting for someone with a 4.5 finger size? Also, I unfortunately have no images (ASET, idealscope, etc), but it scores very well on the HCA (0.9), plus I figure that an AGS0 should very likely have very good light return. Thanks so much!

I think 6 mm would love wonderful on a 4.5, and if you're going with a halo setting, all the better!

My gf is also not so into "bling" and when we tried on rings that were about that size she thought they were too big - I ended up getting a 5.75 mm stone.

But, I wouldn't worry about too "big" - I think that while some might say they aren't into big stones she probably wouldn't mind one if she got one!

And now, repeating some collected wisdom:

Have you seen the stone in person? Idealscope and ASET images are a lot better than HCA, but they're no substitute for seeing the stone itself. Also, where are you buying from? Could you request IS or ASET images?

Hi Chris. Thanks so much for your quick response:) I'm leaving work in just a few minutes to take the GF out to the museum, so I apologize in advance, if you leave a reply, that I cannot reply till tomorrow. Anyways, you give some sage advice regarding not worrying about going to big for someone who is not a "blingy" girl. We had initially looked at 1.15 tiffany-style soliatire RB's, and we had sort of agreed that it was a little much (and, in any event, she would FAR, FAR rather spend the saved money on a good vacation!). To answer your question (Have you seen the stone in person? Idealscope and ASET images are a lot better than HCA, but they're no substitute for seeing the stone itself. Also, where are you buying from? Could you request IS or ASET images?) - I have not seen the stone in person. It is an online transaction with no IS or ASET available. Only the AGSL cert document. Recently, though, I've been forcing myself to care a little less about ideal light return verification via in-person inspection, simply b/c I am a bit (ok, WAY) too much of a perfectionist, and I'd never commit if I had to consider all factors. That being said, do you personally feel that an AGS0 with a 0.9 on the HCA "should" have pretty darn good light return? The GF has told me that she is nowhere near as worried about cut/light return as I am (and she even admitted that I could have given her a CZ and she would have never known it was a CZ :) ) Well, thanks again for your reply! Take care. - Cherokee

call the jeweler, ask for a honest and frank description. Have a return policy on the paperwork/reciept and let him know that if the stone isnt everything he or they claim, its going to come back home.

I love saving the extra cash for a nice vacation, people of my own heart! :appl:

Truely, a honest to god, E VS1 with everything as its listed should be dynamite!!!

My mom has a 0.8 ct halo ring and I have a picture of it on my hand. It's round cut but the halo itself is a cushion-shaped halo. I wear a size 4.25/4.5 on my left hand. Here's a picture for your reference.

The numbers look good. It should be a pretty stone.

love the specs on this stone... :appl:

You have zero worries with an AGS0 stone. Those are easy to buy without seeing them!

And .80 is plenty big especially if you are putting it in a halo setting. It will look like the size of a 2 ct.+ once it is in the setting, so I really am not sure the halo is a good idea if she thought a 1.15 solitaire was too much! It will be a LOT bigger and more blingy than a 1.15 solitaire.

Yea I was gonna say this too. My mom's 0.8 ct halo looks way blingier than my 1.22 ct solitaire (not to mention face up bigger overall with the halo). The bling factor is definitely greather with all those diamonds on the halo and band. I personally think a solitaire is a more understated look than a halo even if the solitaire center stone is bigger.

Thank you all so much for your replies and input!! Your opinions mean a good deal to me :) Thanks especially to OCgirl for kindly posting the pic of your mom's halo; it is BEAUTIFUL, and it is really great to see a .8 RB in a halo. Just a quick follow-up question for anyone out there (also, I'm not sure whether I should start a new thread with this :) I guess I will if no replies are forthcoming).... Anyways, what are your feelings regarding Ritani Endless Love micropave halo settings? It appears to me that Ritani does some of the best work out there besides possibly Leon Merge. Is the Ritani micropave known to be well made and the stones secure? I was thinking about possibly going with the same halo setting as PS user "Cutey TT" - her ring is displayed at the following SMTR link: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/new-camera-new-pictures-of-ritani-endless-love.69008/...) Hopefully the link above is active - I am not sure how to do so :(( Also, the link to the ring at the Ritani site is as follows: http://www.ritani.com/diamond_engagement_rings/item/464/in_collection/3 Thanks so much in advance for your opinions!

I think that diamond will be a real beauty. You can trust an AGS0 to be a great performing diamond. I don't have any experiences about the rings you are looking at. I can't wait to see the finished ring.

Are you looking for a round halo like the Tiffany Embrace? or a cushion halo (can still house a round diamond)?
From my personal experience some people prefer one over another. My mom does not like round halos but she likes the cushion ones. My best friend loves the Tiffany Embrace and therefore likes the round look.

I don't like the profile of the Ritani. It looks too geometric for me. I want the lines to be more curvy to look more feminine. I like the Vatche Grace Diamondseeker listed but that's a cushion halo. You mentioned you tried on rings at Tiffany, did your gf like the Embrace?
