G will not be a problem.

I would want to see an ideal-scope image.
as you can see by its HCA score - you are right on the border of a fair bit of table leakage.
Try entering the pavilion angle at 41.1 from 41 and see what happens.

here is the ideal scope image...it doesnt look too bad...is it bad enough to pass on the stone..? the bscope results were 3 VH with an Isee2 score of 9.7. i dont know if that makes a difference.. thanks for the input though..rich..any thoughts from your end? thanks all!

no
thats great

go for it

I agree. Numbers are theoretical, but an actual image is hard evidence of the stone's performance.

This one looks terrific. Great light return, minimal leakage, and great contrast pattern. This stone should exhibit real nice fire (spectral colored flashes) as well.

I'm with the experts on this one, looks like this would be a very pretty stone. Nice size, and the G/VS2 is a terrific combination. I'd go for it!

thanks all for the advice..the crown % ranges from 34.4 to 34.7 and the pavillion angle..40.8 to 41.1..with only one of the angels being 41.1 when viewed from the top. would this be in danger of fish eye...or the horrid "ring of death"? thanks again!

You are nowhere near the ring of death or fish eye..that's a lovely looking scope image!!

I have a G in platinum and its very white...I wouldn't think twice about doing G again in plat and I may even go to H or I if I have the chance later to upgrade. I have seen I's in platinum that look just fine. Keep in mind also that well-cut makes a huge difference in how the color reflects--a well cut G will look even whiter.

Good luck!

Great choice! Buy it! It looks like a winner.

thanks for the opinions..
i thought that if you coupled a 34.5-ish crown angle to a 41.0+ pavillion angle..you near the ring of death..fish eye..etc...maybe someone can elaborate for me? should i have good confidence that the 3 VH bscope results and high isee2 score will yield excellent light return? i agree that the ideal scope image is great..but im getting confused on what i should believe. you can get such different ratings (HCA) depending on what crown/pavillion scores you enter...any thought on there?
and just to ask once more..do you think an increase in carat size from 1 to 1.2 enough to justify a decrease in color grade from F to G? thanks all!

Bling, if you're happy with what you see, then I would stick with it. The Ideal Scope don't lie.

There's always going to be another diamond out there that might be just that much more appealing, and you can drive yourself crazy in the pursuit of differences that in the end may very well be negligeable. I know I have.

This is a very nice diamond - I wouldn't worry at all about it being a G - it will look quite lovely in platinum.

you have 3 VH's and an ISee2 score of 9.7 out of 10 and you are still asking us what we think?? The stone will be a knockout. The HCA says its great, the Bscope says its great, the Isee2 says its great...what are you asking exactly?????

A crown angle of 34.5 is almost ideal...and a pav of around 41 is nothing out of the ordinary..you must have gotten your facts mixed up on the fish-eye/ring of death. If the stone was going to be fish-eye..the HCA would tell you. I have seen stones score fish-eye on the HCA before..it usually says something like 'This stone is fish-eye, not recommended for purchase' instead of a score. Stop worrying!! All the #'s are on your side and there is a return policy if you don't see what the numbers say.

As for the G...I didn't see a visual diff from E to G...while others may see a diff from D to F..so it depends on your eyes..but set in plat...all will view up as WHITE. Take a look at some pix on the 'Show me the Ring' forum..tons of G's and H's and etc in there that look plenty white to me. I think that the ctw is huge in the visual...from 1 to 1.20c...esp well cut. I notice a diff from 1.25 to 1.35c...so 1 to 1.2 is huge.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for their comments..appreciate the support here! can anyone elaborate on the "ring of death" thing and fish eye though..im still confused on that..
Richard...could you please run the numbers through the diamond calc? to me..its just amazing what a 0.1 will do to a score..
what should one look at more..the bscope and idealscope results or numbers, like the hca? thanks!

Bling: You've had a bunch of very experienced and qualified people tell you this will be an absolute knockout stone. They've even said "buy it!". What else could you possibly be worried about?

The fish-eye or ring of death is not just one angle, it's a combination of a steep crown angle and a deep pavilion angle that create a circle of darkness in a stone.

Read this next sentence carefully: This stone is NOT a fisheye. Period.

Bling, numbers are great, but you're running dangerously close to being obsessive about them. You've got near-perfect scores on this diamond from several different measuring schemes, and still you're unsure?

By the time you finally decide this diamond passes muster, someone else will have snagged it. Seriously....this looks to be a beautiful diamond. I don't think anyone can give you much more reassurance on it.

LOL..sorry

..didnt mean to get under anyones skin..however everyone must realize what a big decision this can be..and it can be quite unerving...its almost like the more you know..the more paranoid you get. i really appreciate everyones input though..truly.

we all can understand nervousness, it's not a small chunk of change nor a small decision to make. however having been where you are now and having gotten through it and being pleased with our end result, i feel secure in letting you know that you are doing a great job of research and questions and it looks like you have really got a beautiful stone here, so stop worrying!!! you won't know how beautiful this stone really is until you get it in your hands--BUT in event of an emergency there is also a return policy if the stone is from GOG which i think it is...so what's the delay?

bottom line is that you have to take the leap at some point, if you can do it with some research and education under your belt as you have....you are 100% better equipped than most people out there.

on the ring of death..i think that is when a stone is a steep, deep combo...so that would be something like a crown angle of 35.5 and a pavilion of something like 41.3 or similar. run a search in the past on the steep deep combo...i have seen posts on it before. this stone has neither of those qualities, and the difference from 41 to 41.1 is something i have posted on in the past--really wondering if it makes THAT much of a difference visually. if you get this stone, maybe you can tell us. i doubt it makes a world of difference from 41 to 41.1 IMO.

fisheye can occur when a stone is too shallow and most likely has a large table and very shallow depth. i am not sure if it occurs at other points than this. this stone has neither..and your crown angle is almost perfect...so again..nothing to worry about. again, run an archived search on fisheye to get more information--there are always posts about almost anything you can think of in the archives.

Good luck. Don't go insane...

Bling, the IdealScope image indicates the reality of the stone. That is not a simulated image like the DiamCalc would produce, or theoretical scoring like the HCA would produce, but a real photo taken of the stone under an IdealScope or ImageScope. It shows plainly that the diamond has no "ring of death" or "fisheye" problems.

It is what it is, and it looks great. You're looking at a top ranking stone as far as cut is concerned.

Relax, and buy it (as long as color, clarity and price satisfy your criteria).
