Is that girdle too thick? There are several WF ACA diamonds that are about the same size for close to the same $$$ but they are all "I" color. I am really concerned about it being very white.

and since everone likes comparisons how about comparing it to this one.

I'm not very knowledgable on measurements, but I know from experience that an AGS0, especially a H&A is stunning and that's definitely the one I would go for. And if the cut is really good, like an AGS0, the I color will look pretty white. Here's a thread to give you an idea of what an I color looks like.

Thanks! Is buying a diamond as nerve racking for every man? :-)

I would think those who do it for a living and those who do not care have it easier

Inbetween, some leave it to the ladies (on this forum) out of sheer desperation.

As far as I can tell, the first stone should look terrific - otherwise the Light Return score would not have been AGS0. And obviously the respectable lab considered that the girdle does not pose any durability problems (hence the proportions grade is tops too). What's up with the finish - no way to know, but I would not expect to see anything that makes the 'excellent' finish grade different than the 'ideal'.

The stone sounds lucky in a way: that finish thing just downgraded the total cut grade for a fluke (IMO), and that gave the worst reason for the stone to miss the 'AGS0' premium. Since these break up of the AGS cut grades in three has only started to appear on diamonds (the grades have been out for a few months, but stock with old certs still hangs around), it doesn't look like these details and what they mean make as much a difference for pricing relative to the old grades (- even though the 'AGS0' label now stands for some slightly different features)

IMO... about this stone.

These said, I doubt you will find H and I very different - chances are you, or anyone else not prepared to grade the stones out of the setting, would not be able to tell some apart once set in a ring. From this point of view, the discussion about the components of the new AGS cut grades... may look less dramatic after all.

However, with all the talking, I am not an expert and diverging opinions are just as good as mine.

My 2c.

Btw:

If yo really do not mind a head ache, there is some about wavy girdles and cut grading on this thread (page 5 onwards).
