Hello all, new to the forum and brand new to researching diamonds. First off thank you, without your knowledge and this forum I would not be making the best choice on a stone. I feel a lot more confident in reviewing stones but I’m feeling overwhelmed in the options out there (hence my post). I am trying to max out my budget of $4.5k on a stone that will be set in a halo rose gold ring. What I have been looking for is a stone that is at least .8 karat, H color, in at least an excellent cut (my most important) and eye clean. My main goal is to find a rock that maximizes brilliance, scintillation and adding some fire. I have attached the link to the stone I’m looking at but would love feed back as well as options. Thanks for the helping me getting this right.

If you're setting it in rose gold, I'd compromise on color to at least an H. Could use the extra money saved to go up in size. If cut is most important, I'd shoot for a super ideal stone as well.

Super Ideal is a must. I reserved the rock I was potentially looking at, possibly a few at high performance diamonds.

I called and spoke with an accredited jewelry professional at WF and the WF rock is eye clean at 6", I really just want to see if I'm possibly missing a rock that the experts would think is a better buy.

Thanks again for the help!

All I can say is that if .8 is a "minimum" and you would like bigger - or you want to save money and stay at .8 - you should absolutely look at I and J with Whiteflash and the ACA line. I am blown away by my J and how white it is. Not even just "white for a J", it actually looks totally white to me (just a regular untrained person, but I looked at a LOT of diamonds). Nothing like the H -J colors I have seen before!

You can go down on clarity to maximize your budget and go up in size. An SI super ideal cut from WF or HPD should be eye clean and they can confirm that for you.

Also, if you want to set the diamond in rose gold, I suggest considering I and even J colors. Potentially even K. That would look gorgeous in rose gold!!

Do you think you might want to upgrade at some point, both those vendors have amazing upgrade policies. Basically spend $1 more and get the full value of your original purchase.

Good luck!
