We''re looking to buy this from our jeweler for $14K. We did a couple of searches on Blue Nile, James Allen, and Whiteflash and seemed comparable, maybe a few hundred dollars less online but we''d prefer to buy in person.

What do you all think?

Thanks!!

Anyone?

Thanks in advance!

usually we shy away from thin girdles, especially near the corners.

My concern would be the "Very thin" on the girdle. Where exactly is it very thin?

Have you talked to the vendor about it?

If it were me, and I do love Princess, Radiants, and flanders cut diamonds

... If one I was considering had a very thin spot ... I think I would be so inclined to get an Independent Appraisal done if I honestly thought this had to be the one ... I would want to be sure that the "very thin" would not compromise the diamonds integrity down the road. I think there are cetain spots that make a princess more vulnerable with a "very thin" girdle, as JulieN stated above ... something like this near the corners would definately worry me.

Good luck, and Have a super day!

I thought I'd add a word about girdle thinness and online shopping:

"Extremely Thin" girdles on diamonds are typically avoided because of durability issues.

"Very Thin" girdles are frowned upon as averages, particularly in princess cuts...but a portion of a diamond's girdle ranging to Very Thin may not be problematic, as long as it's not the overall average.

A range of 'VThin-Thick' could indicate only a tiny part of the girdle is VThin (and that part may be protectable). Alternately it could indicate only a tiny part is Thick. The grading report alone won't tell the story. Knowing an average would be helpful - and a look by an expert with the diamond in-hand would be more helpful.

Here's a thread with a photo essay on the subject: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/tail-of-a-princess%E2%80%99s-girdle.14798/

If the diamond has potential it may be worth it to find out more.

I don''t think the stone falls into the ideal category, but the numbers/stats seem fine (except for the girdle, which has already been discussed)

However, I can''t tell from your post if you''ve actually seen it in person. Is it eyeclean? Did you like it? Can you post pics, sarin idealscope?
