I'm interested in a 2ct+ lavender/lilac/lighter violet purple spinel. This looks pretty to my untrained eye and I can't see any major flaws, although I wonder about the color in the US, NYC area. The price is much lower than I was expecting, and I think the vendor gets great reviews here.

Please tell me what you think of the stone. What am I missing?

Did you purchase it? Listing says sold. :) So I would only say that, IMHO, it's not really a lavender spinel (if it looks similar to the video in person). I'd say it's more of a violet shifter, and it's deeper in tone than I would expect for a lavender. She has some gray, but she's quite pretty. If you bought it, congrats!!

I did not. It wasn't sold when I posted it. Oh well.

P.S. In the future, just in case this stone was sniped (definitely may not have been), when asking for opinions, just post a photo (not the entire listing). While that doesn't completely prevent someone from finding the listing/seller, it can help. Good luck in finding your perfect lavender spinel!

I agree with Autumn!! If you want purple, I think you can do better too! It is a pretty stone, and it reminds me of Tanzanite almost. But 100% you could find something that is definitely more purple. The first thing that hit me with that stone was the blue.

Definitely could do with more purple. It’s a nice stone but I can definitely see some grey. Plus at that price I suspect it will be a greyish, blueish muddy purple.

And don’t post until you’ve secured something! Lots of lurkers! I don’t post until I’ve received stuff in the mail!!!

thank you for this excellent advice. I think if it had been "the one" I would have bought first and asked questions later. I really want 3 or 4 carats anyhow.
