I went in to the store today. There is really not that much in it between the rings. Looked with a loupe in both stones and they look identical to me. Just minor clouding at the top of the table which I could not see at all. Looking at them in the window, the smaller E colour did look slightly more ''shiny'' but I would expect that. The larger stone did look significantly bigger. It''s a tricky one, without an idealscope image there is not much more I can do! Part of me thinks if I am spending that much anyhow, an extra £1700 is not that much more for a once in a lifetime purchase for my SO. However due to the previous posts on the angles being better in smaller ring not sure if I should get that instead.
Want to make my purchase by Fri as Tiffany have honored the pre-price increase prices for me.
Any more opinions? They all help.
Thanks
Wh ycan''t Tiffany find you something else in your desired specs? It kind of leaves me cold that they are basically offering you two choices and that is it. Can they find you another diamond like the larger one with better numbers? If you are paying the premium, you should not have to compromise, in my opinion.
Yes, it still could be good, but without an ideal scope or being able to compare it to many other diamond, then you can't know for sure.Date: 3/11/2010 5:43:29 PM

Ive been doing so much reading on here about the HCA, even though the ring came up as a 2.6, it still could be good. This is so confusing! More you look into this the worse it gets. I do not have an idealscope to compare.
Anyone else have any more thoughts?
Help please!

If cut matters that much to you then you can always take your almost $20k USD and buy a diamond from the US that is almost 2cts. In the face of choosing Tiffany despite THAT trade off, seems to me that a small compromise on cut is small potatos![]()

Listen, for variaous reasons you have decided to buy from Tiffany. You are paying a very high premium for the name brand. As such, in my mind, you should perhaps just *trust* that they sell nice diamonds and stop beating yourself up over it. You can ask them to being in other contenders, but it will cost you 10% more, or around 1000 pounds. Is the difference in cut between this diamond and another one that *may* be better worth that much money to you? Sure, it may not be the sparkliest diamond you could possibly find, but it is not a dog. You saw it and liked it. I think you are just going to have to decide to trust Tiffany or not on this one.

Wanted to say a big thankyou to all that have helped me make my decision! I went with the .95 E in the end. It was somehow calling me and the sparkle was so much nicer than the larger 1.16 G ct. The size was not much different in real life terms. Went for cut over size.
It has been sent by Tiffany for a clean, now I have to wait for 1 month until I propose!
Cant wait this long!
Thanks again, will post pics when i get the ring.
