Hi, I need an opinon on three stones, info:

Stone 1:
1.70
G
VS1
EGL
Depth: 64.6%
Table: 59%
7.36*7.44*4.79mm

Stone 2:
1.81
G
SI1
EGL
Depth: 63%
Table: 57%
6.71*6.78*4.86mm

Stone 3:
G
VS2
EGL
Depth: 63.5%
table:57%
7.42*7.50*4.74mm

Also, would a diamond be safe in a thin low set four prong basket setting?
Thank you very much in advance.

what shape are these stones?

Sorry, they are round stones

pass, they are all way too deep! they will appear much smaller than ideal cut stones.

definitely pass. we'd normally need more info to determine how well the stones are cut, but they are all way to deep so no other info is needed. I'd try to stay away from EGL certs if possible. They are known to not be as reliable. Stick with AGS or GIA if you can.

stones that are deep will look a lot smaller they they are. For example, the first stone is 1.7 but will look the size of about a 1.5 round, maybe even smaller.

whoa.
those are deep. one of them is equivalent to a well cut 1.1ct. stone and the other two are closer to a 1.5. look for well cut stones in that carat weight and you will have better quality of the exact same size.

What should i look for in a round stone? what specs? WHo do you recommend in NYC? Thanks

use the ''pricescope your diamond'' search tool above and select ''cut quality search''

There is a lot of great information on this site about cut quality. A good starting place is to eliminate diamonds with a depth over 62% and the tables should be between 54-58%. There is more to undertand such as crown angle and pavilion angle, but you will be safer if you stick with stones that are AGS certified or GIA certified. You want to look for AGS 0 ideal cut or GIA excellent cut. Within those categories there still will be preferences, but you'll be in a safe zone for choosing a great diamond!

Those stones are way too deep and the second probably has a very thick girdle as it closer to a 1 carat than 1 3/4 carats. Pass on all.
