Opinions on this diamond/setting

Hi all, complete novice here, but I've been researching for weeks and I finally have my eye on a diamond, but I'd love to get your expert opinions. It's from the Brian Gavin Blue line btw.

As for the setting, I'm thinking of going with one of these two:

The diamond is great, and I'd go with the Legera in platinum. I would not do palladium because some jewelers can't even size it. The little bit of extra cost is worth it!

If you are on a budget id go 14k white gold over platinum or plad.

Wow, Lesley is fast. The ASET, Ideal Scope, and actual diamond images have been uploaded to their site and they look good to me. What do you guys think? Also, hopefully, as a VS1, it is eyeclean without even having to ask. But I feel like this is the one so I've reserved it for now! Hope everything turns out well.

I was also hoping to save in the long run by going with platinum/palladium, so that we wouldn't have to worry about re-rhodium plating, but the price difference between 14k and platinum/palladium is huge, at least for a recent grad like me... going to have to keep thinking about that one.

Welll.... I think I slightly prefer the Legera and the price difference between the metals is not that much.

Well you don't have to rhodium plate. My avatar is 14k white gold that's unplated Still very white. Especially where the melee is. And plad goes grey, doesn't it?
