Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first diamond, I've been offered the attached at a reasonable price. Before making a trip, what are people's thought? It will by my first purchase to trying to get some more experienced eyes to see if the trip would be worth it.

Thanks

A picture, particularly a non professional one is almost useless in assessing diamond quality and whether it is a good deal. You haven't given the bare minimum for people to help you,

Specs, dimensions, certificate, price, any close up images, ASET images, who offered it to you? Vendor or friend, upgrade policy. Write down as much as you know about the stone

Saying that I can see a sizeable inclusion under the table at around 7oclock

Hi,

Thanks for your message and I'm sorry, I should have included more information. Details are:

Center Diamond
Diamond Carat:0.70 ct
Diamond Colour:G/H
Diamond Clarity:SI2
Diamond Cut:Very Good

Additional Diamonds
Diamond Carat:0.30
Diamond Colour:F/G
Diamond Clarity:SI1-SI2
Diamond Cut:Very Good

Diamond is set in a ring that was inherited by a friend and they would rather sell it to someone who appreciates it. I don't think they know much about the diamond other than by comparison to similar priced diamonds online. The details are those provided a long time ago when the shoulder diamonds were added to the ring, originally it was just the main stone I believe, so consider details as approximate. The ring/diamonds are being offered at $2000

A couple more photos provided

Thank you

I agree with Snowdrop...it does not look like it is returning light well at all (cut is not good). With the color you've given us we
can tell it is not GIA or AGS certified so in reality the color is most likely lower on the GIA/AGS scale.

An Ideal cut stone (actually its a Super Ideal Branded cut) in that size will run you around $2k and a simple solitaire setting can go
from about $350 on up. A pave setting will start at about $615 and go up.

Here is a .72 J ACA princess in the above setting so you can see what it looks like.

Here is a .7 F ACA in the solitaire

So my opinion is to pass and get an Ideal cut stone. $2k is a lot of money to spend on a stone that does not reflect light well.

Is it a princess you definitely want or did you just pick that one because it was on offer?

$2K for this ring ??...IMO, don't waste your gas.

Agreed...you could do better. Buying from a friend almost always not as great of a deal than you think!
