Opinions on this diamond please?

Hi everyone,

I've been reading this forum over the last couple of days and finally got around to registering. I'm shopping for a square cushion cut solitaire engagement ring and would like your opinion on this diamond:

I'm happy with the 4Cs, I think. How do the other numbers on the GIA report like depth, table, and girdle look to you? Will this diamond look nice and sparkle on my future wife's hand or should I look elsewhere?

No way to tell the cut performance of a fancy cut from just the numbers. You will need at least a image, a sarin scan and an ASET image.

The certificate doesn't show any obvious signs of a bad cut.

Table and depth look to be very good (they are part of the "backbone" of a good diamond).
The GIA profile appears to represent a crown height in the high teens % (16-18 as a guess), which is also very good (and another part of the "backbone").
Pavilion depth in the high 40's % (47-50 as a guess), which is again very good (and an other promising part of the backbone).
The excellent polish and symmetry also look good (possibly a sign of pride in his work on the part of the cutter).
It would appear to be well above average and unlikely to be a dreadful stone, but there is no guarantee.

As Stone-cold says; it is difficult to accurately analyse fancy cuts by the numbers because there is no standard facetting arrangement.

Basically; your diamond has a lot of very good ingredients in the recipe. But has the cutter made them work well together?

For a square cushion I''d stick with buying from an online vendor who has the diamond in house so you can get more information about its performance.

Thanks for the advice and info everyone! I pulled the trigger on the diamond since bluenile has a great return policy and will take it to an appraiser for a closer look.

Special thanks to FB for breaking down the GIA numbers and explaining what makes up the backbone of a very good diamond "recipe". I understand this cut is one of types that have to been seen in person, but I'm glad the technical side of things is looking good. Hoping the cutter made them all work well together.
