Agreed... and thanks for the reply strmrdr!

The GF came home before I could sneak a couple of shots. However, as I was getting ready to take some pics I started to realize how difficult it was going to be to get some decent pics that were not distorted by the surroundings (light, surface, etc.)...any threads, discussions, or thoughts on how to best go about taking the picture (myself)??

DS

Wow, an IF! Are you specifically looking for an IF stone or did you just like this one and it happened to be an IF? I''m always curious (read: nosy) when I see an IF stone pop up since people like them for different reasons--"mind clean", cultural, wanting something rare, etc.

Hi NewEnglandLady,

Had you asked me when I started this hunt if I was looking for an IF, I would have said "Duh." However, at this point, after learning what I little I have, I would have to say that I am not specifically looking for an IF, it just happened to be. In comparing it to other stones I did not feel that I was paying a huge premium for the IF, so I figured "why not?" The lack of a price premium on this IF might just be the underlying market saying "why value imperciecvable clarity." In other words, "you can''t see imperfections in VS1-VVS1, why would I pay more to see the same thing?" An arguement that I would understand.

With that said, I still LOVE that it is an IF. And to more directly answer your question...it is a couple of things...
1) It is pure, and won''t show any defects no matter how you look at it. If confronted with the arguement in the paragraph above, I would plead insanity...it''s all in my head, just knowing it is IF even though I might not be able to see the difference with my eyes.
2.) I really like the idea that it is rare and that it is one of a kind. It''s unique!
3.) The fact that I can use 1) an 2) in the world''s cheesiest analogy for my GF, when I propose!!!

Regards,
DS

Not sure if these Pics are even worth posting...couldn''t manage to get a decent pic, tones of tilt, etc..

And yes the big circle is the loupe I held up to the lens ;)

Let me know what you think about the stone, or what I could do to get a better pic...

Regards,
DS
