Hi all,

I am new to emerald cuts and would appreciate any help. I came across one on Blue Nile, which has a 360 degree video:

https://www.bluenile.com/uk/build-your-own-ring/diamond-details/LD04058755

The stock number is LD04058755, in case it doesn't link directly.

Any thoughts? It seems really well priced for its size, and has been hanging around a while, but am not sure if there is a reason for that! Also the GIA cert is dated 2014, is it likely to be an upgrade? (not a problem in itself but I would want it re-certified if someone has been wearing it around for a couple of years).

Please please please can anyone help? Would be so grateful for any views.

OP - despite the VS2 clarity rating, based on the video and the static image and the GIA certificate I don't think this emerald-cut would be eye-clean - there are several dark crystals, which due to the faceting of the emerald-cut would likely reflect/mirror to seem to appear more than once.

I didn't look at the other options posted but clarity/eye-clean status is especially important for emerald-cuts and dark crystals in particular are more apparent in ECs.

I think you should pass on this BN stone and keep looking.

Thank you so much PattyCo and Marymm. I thought the reason for the lower price/not selling might be the black speckles - it's hard to gauge how visible they would be in real life because the video is so magnified but that's a very good point about the reflections. Thank you for the suggestions Marymm, they look great! Will take a closer look at them.

I like the videos on James Allen best because you can "de-magnify" the diamond, so to speak. Thus you can get a better sense of how the diamond will look in real life.

If you post your budget, clarity, color, and size, people will know what you are looking for and join in the search.
