If the crystals and pinpoint on the table are black inclusions, I'd be sure it really is eye-clean to your satisfaction. The angles are good. Can you get an IS or ASET? The 34/41 pairing is at the edges of our recommended ideal parameters and it would be good to ensure they don't have any impact on light return. But, very good find.

Thank you so much for your quick response, I've been sitting here nervously awaiting replies, lol! I unfortunately don't have access to IS or ASET images, however I did view the diamond itself under a microscope in store. The inclusions are not black, that I do know for sure. When taken into natural sunlight it did look a bit "hazy" for lack of a better word and I believe this may be due to its strong fluorescence. The diamond is priced at $11,890 ... does this seem reasonable? It is within budget but I am attempting to ensure I am making a wise choice.

When you saw it being hazy, were you in indirect light or bright direct sunlight? If indirect, that the stong flour may be a bit bothersome in this stone. I love it, personally, but it should really only be present in direct UV.

The price is not out of line, but it is driven by the color. If you lower the color a bit, you can re-balance on clarity. You found a good choice, but I'll give you two to consider that re-balance the clarity and color.

This is the same size and similar price, for better clarity. This is a bright and crisp stone with a nice balance of angles. Medium Flour.

You could drop a tiny bit of size and go for this G. What I love is the combination of the higher crown and wide/fat arrows. The arrows improve the contrast and that is a good thing in diamonds. No Flour.

You can see that I'd drop the color to G, which is still very white with no tint, to get better clarity. But, you may have a different choice. If you like these two, you can put them on hold with JA and then see if they can get an IS (idealscope image).

While I greatly appreciate you taking the time to find those two diamonds, and wholeheartedly agree with a balance of color to clarity, I am confined to this particular store for my upgrade. Unfortunately the other diamonds that are available rate 3 and above on HCA, so I eliminated them from the running.

You might ask if they can call in the JA stones. They are not owned by JA. But, if they are confining you to their inhouse, you made a fine choice.

I'm unaware of if I can do that, but it is an excellent idea! I will double check. Thank you so much for all of your help, very greatly appreciated!

Hi Kiki and welcome!

Same as my little Fairy really ( Rocky), if you can, check the stone out in different lighting to make sure it truly is eyeclean to your satisfaction as inclusions can pop out in some lighting more than others. The proportions are indeed on the perimeter of what we consider ' safe' but looking at the rest of the proportions, chances are it's good.:)) It's really going to be icy as it's a D, proportions are good, size is lovely and if it's eye clean you should be fine!

Thank you!!

Best of luck and keep us posted!:wavey:

What is the order of the features listed under the stone plot "Key to Symbols"? And is there mention of other characteristics not plotted under "Comments"?
The haziness might be caused by light scattering inclusions, seperate from or in combination with the fluorescence.

Looks like a fair few large twinning wisps on the inclusion plot @Texas Leaguer so that’s my guess as to what the grade setter is.

I agree with @rockysalamander in that if you are limited to their in house stones for your upgrade, then you’ve definitely chosen well based off the proportions. I’d be curious to see a photo of the stone in natural sunlight and under in-store lighting just to get a sense of the haziness you are reporting in the stone.

Turns out we were limited to the in store stones, future finance purchases this stone. Unfortunately for traditions sake I do not get to see it mounted until he proposes, but i will update as soon as possible with pictures!

Looking pretty gorgeous there - is the shank pave set in RG marquise shapes? I’d love to see more pictures - that’s a pretty ring.
Oh and since you’re wearing it, he must have proposed! Congratulations!
