Hi All - I need everyone''s opinions on these 2 settings. Some background on the settings is that I am working with Mark from ERD and wanted a "Tiffany Legacy" inspired ring. The first setting is the one Mark found for me and would be made for a cushion cut center. I didnt like it at first but Mark asured me its just a casting and all the millgrain and other details would be added as part of the finishing process. I still think it looks kinda bulky....but it''s so hard to tell with these blown up photos. My ring size is a 7 (long fingers) so I can handle a little more bulk but still want that delicate look.

This is the 2nd setting that I found last night just searching searching searching...it has that more delicate look and I think I might like the low-prong set diamond better than the bezel, which is the traditional Legacy setting. The link below that is a picture of the actual ring someone here on PS has. She has much smaller fingers than me though...so do you think it would like tiny (and stupid) on my hand? Her stone is .80 and I''m looking at a 0.91.

Sorry for all the details...just trying to make the very important decision on my first ever (and hopefully only) engagement ring!!!

Vatche - much more pretty and elegant.

Love those Vatches.

Another vote for Vatche, hands down. High quality finish and if memory serves me right a good warranty/policy?
I agree the first one looks bit bulky.

I also like the Vatche just because I prefer the design. But I will say in Mark's defense that the Unique settings are pretty nice too, especially considering the prices are usually great. I have a Unique setting for my sapphire and it's darn nice for the price I paid for it! Mark is also correct that he can do quite a bit of work to a Unique setting to make it more delicate looking. Mine came in really bulky and the store I bought my sapphire setting from was able to make it much much more delicate without much trouble at all. It's just the way those settings work.

I like the first setting from ERD.... it''s just a tad bit different and I love the side view... that said, both are beautiful and either will be a big hit!

I also vote for the Vatche. However, just to confuse you more

, have you seen Ktdid''s halo ERD ring? It''s beautiful!

Yes I have seen Ktdid''s halo! I love it! In fact, I asked her which setting from ERD it was and its the Marla - or a variation of the Marla. And the Marla is about $600 more so its really out of out budget.

Mark emailed me back today and told me that the setting he chose from uniquesettings, because of the surprise diamond in the basket, would make it difficult for me to have wedding band fit flush, which has been a requirement for me. I guess the vatche he can tweak to make it fit a wedding band in there....

OK one last questions - what is the consensus on a .91 diamond in this setting on my "man hands"? (LOL - not really but bigger than the average PS''r of 4.5!!)....will the ring be too delicate for me? Like a hippo in a tutu? LOL....

No no not at all! I think it''ll be beautiful. And I also think the halo will help add a bit of finger coverage too, IMO halos are best when accenting smaller stones.

I agree completely.

I vote for the Vatache setting!

I love the Vatche!!

I think a halo on a .9 round will look divine on larger fingers. You''ll get decent coverage - halos work magic!!

I am having something custom made very similar with a 1.06 cushion. (it will prob face up the same as a .9 round!) and my fingers are 7.5!!

Good luck with your decision!
