Well, I''m definitely in a rush to get this ring together (have a deadline of the 8th). I''ve been talking with James Allen and have found them quite helpful. Right now I am strongly considering this stone:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=130&item=759184

It''s a G VS1 Ideal Cut .71c medium blue florescence, very good polish, excellent symmetry, medium to slightly thick girdle.

From Sarin report:
Diameter 5.73 (5.72 x 5.74) [.4%]
Depth 3.52mm 61.4%
Crown 35.2 15%
Pavilon 40.6 42.5%
Table 3.27mm 57.1%
Culet 1.3% (small)
Girdle 1.7 medium - 2.1 slightly thick 1.9%

Ran it through the HCA and it came up with 4 excellents

Within TIC, score of .9. It is, as noted on the Sarin report and verified by the HCA within AGS 0 range as well (not that necessarily means it''s a great stone as others have pointed out). These numbers look great! I just want to buy it right now but... I want to make sure I do this right.

So, what more do I need? I was thinking I''d ask for a ideal scope image to check for the hearts and arrows pattern.. would that be the next and final step? Heck.. going by these numbers my guess is it ought to be a killer stone.. anyone see any problems?

Oh, and how much exactly does pricescope save me with these online vendors? When I ask for the discount I''d like to know exactly how much they''re supposed to take off. This stone is a whopping $2,710.. if I could get that down to $2500 or so I''d be thrilled (and back in the top end of the budget).

I still have the ring $650 (3 stone 18K with engraving) and two ideal cut round side stones .3c each and $400 (minus discount). I''ll post the Sarin reports for the sides when I get them. Should I ask for the idealscop images of those as well? Is that the best way to look for the H & A pattern? Would the pattern even be noticeable in such a small stone? Can the numbers tell me anything about the pattern or do I need to see pictures?

I want to make the right decision here but I''m such a rush.. I''d appreciate any and all info.

I would always try to get IS pics and sarin #s (looks like you have detailed #s already, which is good).

That said, with your time limit, you can probably get away with just getting the diamond since it is a round. If it was a fancy I would tell you you need to get at least the IS image, no matter what. But rounds are more consistent so even though it's not great I think you can just get it sight unseen.

That said, do your best to get as much info as you can!
