opinions on shape choice if size is limited

okay - chances are the center stone will be 1 carat or less.
i would of course like the biggest stone for the quality....
i am really not sure what i feel like i will like in the end.
i know cut varies...but if you were comparing
oval to cushion to round...
i believe visually the cushion appears smaller? is that correct and the oval the biggest?

or is this not true?

Yes Sparklyforever, you are correct. The oval will usually appear bigger, then the round and the cushion last
(due to its depth).

If you want a bigger look go for oval, pear or marquise. You could also do a halo on any shape diamond that
will help to give it a bigger affect.

I think oval would give you the biggest appearance in a diamond shape.

The three shapes above can give a good bang for the buck, so you could try some on to see what you think if possible.
