Hi all,

I learned about pricescope AFTER I bought my diamond from BlueNile !!!
While I still have 30 days to return my stone, I live in Australia so it would
be a bit of effort to return and get another stone.

I have the stone appraised and it's exactly the same as the spec on GIA cert.
Your opinions are really appreciated.

1.7ct F, Ideal Cut, VS1,
Polish: EX, Sym: EX, Flour : None
Table: 56%
Depth:61.4%
Crown angle: 35*
Pav angle: 40.8*
HCA: 1.5
Price: $19.5k

Will post some homemade photo later.
I am also considering this one:

2.04ct G, Ideal cut, VS2 ($22.6k)
Polish: EX, Sym: EX, Flour : None
Table: 57%
Depth:59.3%
Crown angle: 32.5*
Pav angle: 41.0*
HCA: 0.5

you can find more details here

I am not sure should I give up F for a bigger G stone?
Downgrade from VS1 to VS2 does not really bother me.

BN does not provide H&A or ideal-scope photos so I am not sure it would be as good as the one I have now.

Again, I really appreciate for your advice.
PS: I am a fan of H&A diamonds

Below are some pictures I took myself, very shaky hands.

Hi mel

Your diamond looks good, it isn''t hearts and arrows if that is what you want, but it is still a well cut diamond. You are right an IS image would be very useful for the BN diamond but they do not offer such services.

Thanks Lorelei.

I do know that the diamond is not true H&A one as it has to hearts with big cleft.

Any advice on returning this one and getting a H&A rock ~2ct, G and VS2?
I may have to stretch my budget ($20k) a bit.

Thank in advance for all your input.

Best
Mel

What is that budget in? USD or AUD?

Both look promising from the numbers. Prefer to see an IS image rather than a H&A image though.

While an IS image would be helpful, 40.8/35 angles is a very safe combo for a good performing stone--the vast majority of diamonds with those angles and EX or VG symmetry will have good Idealscope images, as well.

Only you can decide on the 1.7 vs 2.0. It is really a decision of size vs budget. Is stretching your budget worth the bragging rights of a 2ct diamond, when you already have a large stone by any standard? Depends on your priorities and financial situation and none of us can advise on that.

Thanks Stone-cold11 and jet2ks.
My apologies, I am new and dont really know what your "nick" names here.

My budget is USD 20k.

Re: 1.7 vs. 2.0

I feel that my gf may not be able to tell the difference between a G and F
nor she can see the difference between VS1 & VS2.
If I do get a slightly bigger stone with "perfect" cut, she probably could see the difference, mostly in size (as I think my current stone has decent performance).

Thanks again all.
PS: I am going to get an IS loupe soon.

Sorry.
Duplicated post

Thanks Stone-cold11,
the one on GOG is beautiful. I do like the video comparing various stones with similar size too.
I may have to think about this one.
