It looks good, but I would ask them if it is 100% eyeclean since it does have a crystal near the center.

My main concern was the crystal. Since it's through blue nile, I don't think they can tell me if it is visible. I will send it back if I can see it.
This is the first diamond I have ever bought. Going to have a local jewler set it in a setting we picked out together. For a similar diamond spec wise, they were easily twice as expensive after I went in on my own to talk price last week. They kept talking about optical purity and all this stuff I can't even find reference to on the internet and telling me I was going to get what I pay for. It as really frustrating because I would rather give the buisness to a local store.

Be sure to look at it at various angles, and definitely look at it in fluorescent office lighting. If that crystal is dark brown or garnet color or black, it's probably going to be completely visible under some circumstances. Not totally eyeclean and a dark colored crystal might be the reason for the price.

The price of your new diamond must be at least 100% greater than the price of your original diamond.
Your diamond must be in its original condition with the original diamond grading report.
^ That upgrade policy says you can only trade up to something that costs twice as much as the diamond you bought. Other vendors have a less-restrictive policy. And I don't like that "original condition" restriction because then they can argue that the trade-in diamond was worn and will have to be refurbished to original polish.

It is on the cheap side, so hopefully you scored a deal!

I'm going to inspect it very well upon first recipt. The upgade policy is pretty restrictive, but I like that they have one, and I expect blue nile will still be around when I can finally afford something twice as expensive.

They also have a 30 day refund return policy:
Our 30-day money back guarantee gives you time to make sure your purchase is perfect. If you need to return it for any reason, we'll happily provide you with an exchange or full refund.

You may return within 30 days of purchase when in its original condition except in the case of a non-refundable special order. Engraving fees, when applicable, are non-refundable. Please note the customer pays the return postage.

So I'll be out the shipping only if it turns out to be a dud.

I'm glad nobody can see anything as obviously wrong with this stone outside of what I can see. I know there are some very knowedgable people here. Thank-you everyone, this is a lot of cash for me to spend. I'm not a diamond person, but I love my gf, have dated her for four years now, and lived together for 2. I want her to have the best I can afford. My total budget is $7500, and for me that's more than the proverbial 2 months salary. If you guys have any advise I am totally open. I'm not a regular poster, but I'm not a jewlery guy, I don't even wear a watch, chan, bracelet ect. Just a dude looking to give the love of his life a nice ring.

Thanks for all the coments and consideration. I wanted to update the forum. Got the diamond yesterday and it looks amazing. No visable flaws whatsoever.

Due in to work today at 11 am. So went to the store where my gf fell in love with a setting first thing in the am, to let them know what was up. Told them I bought a diamond, since the price was thousands less than what they were quoting for similar specs.

All of a sudden they were ready to do business at lower prices. Pulled out diamond, gia cert, and they couldn't find anything wrong except for flouro, which doesn't phaze me in the least. Put a black light to it, and told me that's why it's cheaper, fluro is bad ect.

Offered me a 1.o1 carot H sI1, very good cut with no fluro for same price. I declined and told them to mount the one I bought online. 2 weeks ago that diamond was 8,200. It would have been a decent deal, if I didn't already have a rock in hand.

I let them know if they gave me that price 2 weeks ago I would have pulled the trigger and it would have been it. I'm not one to care about a few hundred. That would have been a reasonable price, but I think the rock I got is better.

I will post pic in a week or so. Thanks for all your help.

You still got a better deal on the BN stone than the deal they offered you at the store. They were only offering you a GIA VG, and a smaller stone at the same weight. There is a popular misconception that fluorescence is a bad thing, mostly at local BM's, many of us here covet it and will only purchase stones that have this really cool characteristic....as evidenced by the very popular BGD BLUE line, ideal cut diamonds with only medium to very strong blue. Good for you for sticking to your guns and not getting caught up in the babble they were dishing you. I can't wait to see the completed ring. Congrats on your upcoming engagement.

Oh, I just wanted to mention, often jewelers will not cover your stone if it is damaged during the setting process. Many don't even think of this until it is too late. Did you have an opportunity to ask the jeweler what will happen in such an unfortunate event? Even if you have the stone covered by an insurance policy, it's unlikely that it's insured for damage due to setting. I believe that JM is one of the only companies that will. If it's not too late you should contact the jeweler and your insurance company if you have one yet, and ask these questions before you proceed. It's not often that the stone is damages, but it certainly does happen. :nono:

Thanks for your comments christina. They did warn me that if the diamond was damaged durring mounting, they would not be responsible. I'm just taking a chance on that. I feel like with a round, it's a safe gamble.

mounting + wedding band without stone
I didn't take any pics of the stone
