Opinions on a halo or 5 stone setting for a Jeff White Asscher cut blue tourmaline

Okay so I got a little crazy with buying during this Covid craziness, and now I have another Jeff White stone to set.
It is a 7.98 x 7.98 x 6.25 Asscher cut blue tourmaline.

And the video:

I'm torn between a halo like this. Thinking mix between 18k Rose and Yellow gold with the bezel in Rose and maybe two bigger rounds with 1 smaller instead of the 5 rounds or 2 marquis with a single round.

Or a 5 stone with traps and bullets like this. Not sure if I would do platinum or yellow gold. Which would make the blue stand out more?

Bezel for protection and to make the colour richer.

I like both designs, but personally prefer the 5 stone setting. Either way it's a gorgeous stone.

I love the 5 stone! I've been pining to do a setting like that too, so please let me live vicariously through you while I save for my other rings :)

Wow, I am falling in loooove with that bezel halo setting!! :kiss2: I think both settings would be very nice with your stone, but I feel like they are both two totally different looks so it's hard for me to pick one over the other! I'm not sure what your finger size is, but I feel like that 5-stone ring design could provide some killer coverage for some serious bling!

I feel like the halo and bezel in option 1 would bring out the color more. But it could also easily become "too much" and distract from the center stone? I love the inspo pic though. And your tourmaline is so pretty!

Your tourmaline is gorgeous! My favorite way to set a cushion is kite set like your first picture, but when it comes to asschers, I much prefer them to be set in the traditional way. It seems to show off the asscher cutting better to me. I would see what orientation for your particular stone looks best to your eyes before deciding which way to set it. You could even rotate the first design like below if you prefer it set square. Sorry the pic is so big after I edited it!

That’s a gorgeous bezel. I’m not sure what jeweler you’re using, but only the most skilled can do such a fine bezel. It’s also often harder on the stone to bezel set, so it can get chipped.

Gorgeous stone, I can’t wait to see what you do with it as it will look great in any beautiful setting.

What a beautiful bezel design! I love the color and cut of your stone—so clean looking. It’s a special find.

Thank you everybody. I've decided to go with the halo and save the 5 stone for a future project (maybe the red spinel).

This will be in 18k yellow and rose gold.

As for the cad above, does the pave on the shank make it look too busy?

I’ve only just seen this thread, beautiful stone and I love the design you have chosen. I think if it were me I would be tempted to slim down the pave on the shank so it does not overwhelm the halo, I wouldn’t get rid of it though.

I don't think the pave on the shank is too much. But I also think brushed/matte gold shanks would look really pretty too!

I think it‘s going to be amazing. I don’t think the pave on the shank will look too busy. Plain shank vs pave shank would be more of a personal preference and you can’t go wrong either way with this ring.
