Ok so in another thread I asked opinions about finding a stone over a carat with as perfect proportions as I can get with in my price range. Some one kindly found this diamond for me. I am now trying to gather as many opinions as I can to make sure I can feel good i am purchasing a well cut diamond. I realize it's not perfect but I'm not sure I can afford perfect. So please keep that in mind when judging. I purchased my diamond through Blue Nile and am going to return what I have because through educating myself, it's just not good enough ;-) with that being said, I really can't spend what a signature ideal cut costs so I am trying to find my best option for an Ideal cut. For what ever reason the link won't take you to the diamond itself but this is the item number and you can search it in the blue Nile search bar, I will also lost all measurements. Here is the GIA certificate:

The ID number is LD06339539

Price $5470
1.17 carat
Vs2
Color I
Medium fluor
6.74 x 6.72 x 4.19mm
Table 56
Depth 62.2
Crown angle 34.5
Pavilion Angle 40.8
Crown height 15%
Pavilion depth 48%
Star length 45%
Lower half 75%
Girdle slightly thick, faceted 4%
No cutlet

It does have some twining wisps and feathers.
It scored a 1.3 on the Holloway cut adviser.

Please let me know thoughts on this diamond. It's on hold for me. Thank you!!

Thank you! Opinions on twining wisps and feathers as main inclusions?

Looks pretty good just based on the numbers.

I'm guessing since it's a GIA VS2, the inclusions are not too bad. I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't like it you can always return on BN.

Here is some information about twinning wisips

Twinning Wisp

Twinning wisps can also be found among stones the graining that's usually noted on lab report and are the result of growth defects within the diamond's crystal structure. While graining and strain are very difficult to see upon initial inspection of a diamond, twinning wisps are more easily seen as in this SI1 clarity diamond. All of these inclusions are twinning wisps.

If you think you can see those inclusions with the human eye think again. Here it is under overhead fluorescent lighting under a microscope! See how they disappear? ;-)

My opinion???
Ideal Proportions very top of the bullseye. These proportions are not common even among BN Signiture Ideals. If I were shopping for 1.0 carat I color VS stone, I would buy this stone. In the worst case, you can always return for free (within the US). This is a reasonable risk and inconvenience you just have to accept for not buying a stone from BN signature ideal, whiteflash ACA, JA trueheart, etc.. for potential savings of 1k~2.5k.. If you have to return, you just repeat this process. At least, now you know, with some patience and time, you can find 1.1+ carat I VS diamond with ideal proportions around 5.5k.

If this happens to be eye-clean and the light performance is as expected, HOME RUN

Numbers are great! Can't really tell you a thing about inclusions with no pictures, but as others have said, hopefully VS2 is okay.

Thank you everyone! I think I'm going to go ahead and switch mine out for this one and go from there. I so appreciate everyone's help! I'm excited to have a diamond on my finger I don't have to have any regrets about!! And I hope this baby is blinding as I'm a girl who loves sparkle :) I mean...I'm assuming we all do since we are in love with diamonds? :)

I am waiting to hear back about the twining wisps as far as making sure they do not have any negative impact on the diamond. Once I get clarification and I hope it comes back clean I will commit to the diamond. I do have to do the return first so it might be 2 weeks before I physically have the diamond. I will let you all know how I like it when I receive it as long as all looks good! If not...back to the drawing board :wall:

Thanks again!

Flyingpig, you have been so helpful so far so I need to ask your opinion... I'm trying to really figure out what it is I want. How best to spend my money. I'm contemplating spending the majority of my budget on the diamond and going more basic on the setting. I was tossing around the idea of trying to get to or near the 1.5carat range especially if I'm going to go more solitaire style. I have really been admiring the larger stones with a more simple setting. I was debating opening my self up to J color? Or going to SI1 clarity (but I will be really really mad if I can see a single inclusion). I'm good with eye clean though. True eye clean. I do think the 1.17 will be a great size but before I purchase I figured perhaps I should see just how much I could get for my money. Can you please please please help me? Or give me some thoughts? Thank you thank you!! (Sorry for my lack of ability to make decisions :wall: )

Ok good news came in that the 1.17 was confirmed clean and clear in reference to the twinning wisps. It does not have any negative impact on the diamond. They also confirmed it was a great performer. (Setes I wonder about honesty however since they are trying to sell the stone). I have a good feeling about this one and think it would be a gorgeous stone. Not quite hearts and arrows but looks to be great. The diamond specialist also sent me 2 stones that are 1.31carat and look to be pretty good proportionally but not quite as good as the 1.17. They both were "very good" one right at 2 and one 2.something on the HCA. They are both in the low $7000 range. I guess I am trying to figure out is it going to be enough visual size difference to justify the lower performance than the 1.17. Or if the visual performance of the 1.17 will take the place of the larger carat weight on the other two. Any thoughts?
