Opinions needed on JA 2ct round studs

Hi there,

I just made my first big diamond purchase and while I thought I had done enough research, I'm now wondering if I made the right choice in diamond pairs at James Allen. My concern is that there may be some light leakage towards the center as it is much lighter there on the ideal scope arrows view, especially with diamond 2.

I am now aware the these are more "near hearts and arrows" than actual hearts and arrows after further research since there are some of the misalignments. I tried requesting James Allen customer representatives to provide an ASET image but they would not provide and said they are reserved for special shapes. I read somewhere that a 1-2 score may be preferred, but a friend of mine prefers closer to 0, not sure what the popular opinion is. I would greatly appreciate any and all opinions. If there is any missing information that may be helpful, please let me know so I can provide!

Thank you in advance for your time.

These both look great to me!

Those are practically twins - nice choices and should look amazing as a matched earring set!

I think you did great!

Thanks for weighing in! I couldn’t help but continue looking and wonder if this set might be better. While they aren’t as similar as a pair in specifics, they might seem better in cut based on the ideal scope in both potential light leakage and heart alignment. Are they worth replacing?

So cool how you can view them side by side like that! My own opinion is that I would prefer the first pair because they are the same color grade. Similarity in size and color feel like higher priorities to me than hearts alignment. I don’t thinks any of the stone show leakage.

I think I still like the first pair better for earrings, based on the crown and pavilion angles.
Nice and bright.

Second pair is a strong triple.
First pair is knocking it out of the ballpark.
Babe Ruth called...he wants his home run back.

Thanks for your reassurance. Guess I had the wrong terminology earlier after further research, I had concerns with poor light return under the table, do you think the original diamonds are still okay? I am allowed to switch a diamond or both out as they haven’t started production yet. All in this is 5k so I want to make sure if I need to spend a little more to get better quality in the long run, I am happy to.

The arrows images for both of them tell me that the light return under the tables will be nearly perfect (dark red). You hit the bullseye!

Maybe I'm being silly here but what about the first one from the first two and the first from the second two? The numbers would be like this:

E 6.46mm
1.02ct
61.4 D
56.5 T
34.5 CA
40.7 PA
HCA .09

E 6.46mm
1.02ct
61.1D
57 T
34.3 CA
40.7 PA
HCA .09

I don't think you could do much better than this. It would be very mind clean!

This is also an excellent suggestion for a near identically matched pair.

I decided to rule out diamond 1 set 2 because upon further inspection one arrow seems faint from the face and not as clear in the 360 video.

What do we think about this new diamond paired with diamond 1 from set 1? There is no splitting at the end points of the hearts but noticed there still is some variation in size of the "v shaped gaps". I do think the table looked a bit brighter inside in both the photograph and with better light return in the ideal scope image. It is $310 more but if its the better choice, I'd be willing to spend it.

Or do we prefer diamond 2 from set 1 still? Also, thought I read somewhere that 34.5 was an ideal crown angle, should I be looking for that instead?

Thanks for taking your time to give your opinions. I really do appreciate them and value your efforts!

I'm going to vote for 1 and 3, but to be honest I'm not sure I can perceive a difference. It's just that I "think" I notice the table size difference in the blown up photos but I know IRL it won't read that way. I also may just prefer it slightly because it's brighter looking, but that has to do with the lighting and again not a real concern. Sorry I can't be more help.
