Hi everyone, can I please get your opinion on this particular diamond. You help is greatly appreciated as I make this decision!

Shape: Sirius Star 80 (Canadian mined diamond)

Measurements: 7.23 - 7.33 x 4.46mm

Cut: AGS Ideal O
Light Performance: AGS Ideal 0
Polish: AGS Ideal 0
Symmetry: AGS Excellent 1

Color: (F) AGS 1.0

Clarity: (VS2) AGS 4.0

Carat Weight: 1.521 cts

Florescence: Medium Blue

Table: 55.9
Depth: 61.3
Crown Angle: 33.9 degrees
Pavillion Angle: 35.1 degrees
Culet: Pointed
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick

Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure all those numbers are correct, especially the pavilion angle? If correct the diamond is cut really deep.

It faces up rather small for a 1.5 carat diamond, some 1.25 carat diamonds will face up just as large.

This is a specialty cut diamond, not a modern round brilliant. I am not sure you can judge it by the numbers in the same way?

To the OP- have you seen the Sirius Star 80 with your own eyes and loved it? They are a beautiful cut! Are you shopping in person or choosing this stone sight unseen?

Thank you for the clarification.

Wild, and I think beautiful!

Point stands that it doesn't face up as large as a round brilliant of the same carat size, so make sure that the face-up dimensions are satisfactory to you.

I don't think a 61.3% depth is really deep on a round diamond. The face up size of 7.2 to 7.3 mm looks to be similar to a 1.5 ct MRB?

Nah, faces up a little small compared to the average 1.52 carat MRB: '

**edited by moderator, no affiliate linked websites please** puts in default dimensions of 7.47mm x 7.47mm for an average 1.52 ct MRB

There are many Whiteflash ACAs and BGD branded rounds that are in the 61% depth range with those in the 1.52 ct range that measure 7.3 to 7.4 mm, so I would not call this particular diamond really deep.

The key here is, 1) do you like the stone (if you have seen it)? or 2) If you haven't seen it and need to go to some trouble or
expense to see it will it be worth it? To answer that question I would refer you to the AGS report.

I must add to the above, that I am very favorably disposed to Embee Diatech, and their Sirius Star cut. My sister just had them recut
her engagement ring diamond, which had sustained a fracture on the pavilion. It was 1.06 carats. They recut it to a 100 facet Sirius Star with a loss of only 20 points. Amazing, in my not terribly humble opinion. We also sent them a pair of smaller diamond earings, that she never had occasion to wear, and had them cut into 80 facet Sirius Stars (they were about 44 points and too small to fit 100 facets into). These came back 33 and 36 points (iirc).

The stones are stunning and are awaiting resetting into a three setting ring. They all came back AGS Os.
So I would say it would be worth the trouble to take a look. These diamonds have a LOT of pizzazz!

Sirius Stars are seriously cool. That said, I"m not sure what your question is. Can you rephrase it please?

Exactly, this Sirius faces up measuring a little smaller than the BGD's and ACA's at 7.3 to 7.4 mm(the Sirius measures 7.22mm to 7.33mm). I stand by my point: the face-up size is on the smaller size compared to the average modern round brilliant.

White Flash diamond available right now: 1.522 carats, measuring 7.38 mm x 7.41 mm. Same carat size but you get a little bit more face up size compared to the Sirius:

Yes, 7.38mm is noticeably larger than 7.22mm. Every hundredth of a millimeter counts.

61.3% depth is fine, but if I were to paid that kind of premium I'd want all ideal 0

As diamond cutters, we will occasionally allow a minor penalty to slip through- as long as we still have our ideal cut grade. It is only those less than ideal cut grades that we will get shipped back for fixes if applicable (when we work on a specific Customer's piece and we are required to maintain a specific weight threshold, or in the some repair cases- it's a different story altogether).

On this specific diamond, a more complex facet configuration than a traditional ideal round brilliant, the cutter works twice as hard as he is hand-crafting 48 inclined facets (as opposed to 24), and based on our internal production and post-grading notes- this specific diamond should make an AGS Triple Zero.

I wanted to thank everyone for this input on this diamond. I am still considering this for purchase, but would very much like to find something that has the ideal rating across the board. There's no doubt that the Sirius Star is stunning in person - the brightest stone I have seen to date. However, for the premium that is being asked, I am expecting perfection on the grading.

I recently purchased a pair of Sirius Star Diamonds for studs. They are without a doubt the brightest stones I've seen. They are. 61 Ct. Each and really sparkle. It's a purchase that I am very pleased with as everyone makes comments on the stones. I would say after you check the stones spec's then go for the eye appeal. In my opinion Sirius Star diamonds are bright beautifully cut stones that will draw compliments from everybody. I hope this helps in your decision. Trust your instincts you stated you liked the stone they are rare diamonds.
