Hi All,

Like many people who do these kind of postings I have been a long time lurker who is now ready to make the jump into purchasing a diamond ring. I have been doing my best to research and want to thank all of you guys/gals for sharing your knowledge with us ring newbies. With that being said, lets move onto the main show; the diamond!

My budget is approx 10-11k and the diamond (round) will go on a solitaire engagement setting. My diamond criteria has been the following:
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Ideal
Carat: approx 1.40

This criteria allowed me to get the best quality/quantity for my budget (to me this passed the "eye-clean" test for my budget haha).

Below are two diamonds that I found that have both great scores on HCA and would love your guy's/gal's opinion on them. I assume both diamonds pass the eye-clean test due to them being VS2, but is there any reason why Diamond 1 is more expensive than Diamond 2? Should i be requesting more information from Blue Nile? If you have any other suggestions from other websites that fit my criteria, I would be much appreciated. Once again, thank you for all your help and support in this diamond buying process!

Set advanced search for this:

Depth: 60-62.3

Table: 54-58

And then look for pavillion angle: 40.6-40.9

Crown angle: 34-35

See what you can find, and of courae run through HCA

All,

In addition to the three Blue Nile diamonds, I also got an IG scope of a diamond from James Allen. Any thoughts on how this diamond compares to the Blue Nile diamonds or is it impossible to tell without the IG scopes from Blue Nile. Any opinions on all four diamonds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks once again for your guy's time.

Diamond 4:
Carat: 1.40
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent
Depth: 61.2
Table: 57.0
Crown: 34.0
Pavilion: 41.0
HCA Score: 1.4

Sorry, I have been super busy today. I will be able to help later or maybe someone else can help too.

I like the G VS1 from blue Nile.

Hopefully someone else will add comments.

Thanks once again whitewave! I also was leaning toward the VS1 G from blue nile because I believe it has the best cut between the four. Why did you think the VS1/G from Blue Nile was the best between the four?

Any other thoughts from anyone would be awesome!

I like the G Vs1 as well as long as it's eye clean. The other two from blue nile have larger tables whereas the G VS1 has more ideal proportions

The JA stone is not bad.. there's one tiny spot of leakage but I don't think it would be visible. Do you have the dimensions for that stone and a better photo?

Which setting would you get?

Thanks for your advice istase2000. I don't have a better picture of the James Allen stone, but here are the dimensions and the link to the diamond:

Dimensions:
7.20*7.22*4.41

This will also go on a solitaire engagement setting; something like this:

So just to understand your comment on the bigger table vs. ideal proportions: bigger table means the diamond will look bigger while ideal proportion means it will sparkle more? Am i getting that right?

Thanks once again all.
