Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Price Scope but would love your input. I'm looking at a Blue Nile diamond...and as you know, there are no pictures.
It's a 1.48-carat round diamond, ideal cut, VVS1...but my only doubt is the colour. It's an I with medium florescence. The website suggests that the florescence may partially mask the slight tint. Will this diamond appear yellow???

Thank you very much :))

The fluor will only come into play under UV light (outside in direct sun or under a blacklight). It will have no effect on color under incandescent, fluorescent, etc.

Why such high clarity? You could drop clarity and get a higher color for the same price.

So..you think it'll look yellow?
I'm hesitating to drop in clarity. But I'd rather have that than a diamond that's visibly yellow.

Why are you hesitant to drop in clarity? Is it a "mind clean" thing? You are overpaying for something you literally cannot see (in my opinion). And clarity at this level has absolutely no effect on the light performance of the stone (which is what you want, right?). The problem with BN is that they don't provide any light performance images, so you really don't know what you are getting, unless you look at an AGS 000 stone, which has already been proven to have ideal light performance.

Stones can be "eye-clean" easily into VS2, many SI1, and some SI2. I have several SI1's that are completely eye clean - not to say that all are, and that's why you need someone's eyes to look at the stone for you before you buy it.

I color is not yellow - it's "soft" if that makes any sense. I have a D, some G's, and a J, and although I can see the J color it is not yellow, just not as stark as the D.

What are the rest of the specs on the stone? Crown and pavillion angles and table and depth %?

We had a bad experience...we were shown an SI1...and could plainly see a large white inclusion in the centre of the stone, without a loop. Then we were shown a VS1 and could spot a tiny black spot, without a loop again. Maybe we're not the type of couple who should buy a stone without seeing it live.

Here are the rest of the details:
Table 56%
Depth 62.5%

What do you think?

Can you get the crown and pavillion angles? Plug all the numbers in here https://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca and lets see what we get. (Anything under 2 is desirable)

Who graded the stone?

Thank you so much..I really appreciate your expertise

The score comes out as 0.7. The stone comes with a GIA certificate.

Mine is an I-color at about the same size, also from Blue Nile... so you can see the pictures yourself to determine.

But the truth is, unless a D color stone is place side by side or if you are super color sensitive, the I-color will look just as white especially after mounting on the ring. But if you are still concern, then it is perhaps best to get a VS2 clarity with inclusions away from the table and increase the color to a G or H.

Mine is a SI2 clarity and I have problems finding the inclusions with a loupe, much less spotting them with the naked eye. FYI.

Good luck!

Maximus Cruiser - that's a beautiful diamond. It doesn't look yellow at all to me. Very encouraging!! Thank you for sharing
