Hi all,
I have finally started to organise an ering for my girlfriend after lurking around here, and have ordered the below and am now freaking out of course:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-color-vvs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3716865
From previous passing comments and conversations, I have gathered that she is about quality over quantity. She likes the other girls rings that are solitaires on thin bands etc, but more importantly she likes the diamonds that tick all the boxes quality wise that sparkle a lot. She has said she would rather one nice diamond than a more expensive setting with a cheaper diamond.
From lurking on here for a couple of months, I knew I could go to a J VS2 or similar and get more carats for my cashola, but obviously it isn't really what she wanted which is the most important thing to me.
With this in mind, I think the above diamond is a good compromise for my budget? There was some IGI certified in lieu of GIA that were IF instead of VVS2, but I preferred GIA from my research. Also at my budget, if I went for super ideal or signature cuts it was only getting a 0.7ct. From viewing images and using HCA, the above diamond actually looked better with an excellent cut anyway than most of the signature ones I viewed (0.9 on HCA) and go that extra 0.1ct. Also F seemed the best compromise where I couldn't distinguish a colour difference from D or E. Beyond that I noticed a faint yellow tinge even when zoomed out or when in shops having a look so seemed to be the sweet spot.
So, how did i do? Still time to change, but I think it is a good choice for quality and a decent carat size (5.5 finger, going on a 1.5mm band so should appear bigger when you factor this and the quality in).
