I don't know much about rounds....but make sure the Si1 is really eye clean to you. I am returning an Si1 where the inclusions were in the middle of the stone. They are driving me crazy. Just make sure you see the cert and look at the plot!

lucky...what are you up to? heheh..me, no expert..but it looks great from the numbers? can i venture to ask what this is for..hehehe..

is the SI1 clean? i guess that would be my biggest issue, especially in a honker like that one! very nice size..and the H SI1 combo..love it! do you have any IS pics?

Bling,

The vendor said it was eye clean, and this is the image under the IS:

Here's the GIA report:

It scored a 2.0 on the HCA, is this OK? I know that one has to look at the stone for it to make sure that it is a nice looking stone, but I'm having them send me pictures anyway...

Thoughts? Opinions?

Lucky....if Whiteflash says this stone is eyeclean, then I believe it. I bought an SI2 from them that Brian said was eyeclean, and he was right....it's completely eyeclean.

Looks like a lovely stone. Let us know what you decide.

Nice! None of the inclusions are in the middle of the stone!

But here's one question- what about feathers near the girdle? And do they touch the surface? I'd just ask...

#'s look good. I think you're hitting a sweet spot with the H/SI1 combo. Should be a stunning!

Yes, the inclusions are nicely toward the outside of the stone..and if it is a whiteflash stone, and they tell you its eyeclean..i would tend to believe them. The IS image looks really good! It would be nice to see some pics of it too..
what happened to the asscher you looking for?

First thing's first, I think....I would love to get a RB first and then get the Asscher. Gotta save money for the Asscher!

I would LOVE to get both, but oh well!

Here's another picture of the stone.

I am more confused now. When I plugged in the numbers from Whiteflash on the HCA, I got a score of 2 - V.G, V.G, V.G, V.G, but they had a Sarin report and plugged in slightly different numbers and scored 1.7 - EX, V.G, V.G, V.G.

Isn't it better if the score if under 1.5? Or am I just being too picky?

Thank you for any input!

hi luckyhonu,

anything under 2 on the HCA is a good stone.

the reason for the difference with the sarin specs is that sarin machines, OGI megascopes, and the like are not "perfect" machines. they are simply "good enough". there have been some stones that were put into these machines and all came up with different numbers. that would account for your differing HCA score.

if your stone is a whiteflash, i wouldn't worry too much. they don't sell "crap". very reputable company with TONS of satisfied customers here on PS...and you know what a bunch of picky people we are here!

i agree..the sarins and ogi's will differ ever so slightly each time you run them most likely, so you will see tiny variances in the HCA. Most say that anything 2 or under is great..seeing very little difference visually. If you see it, and you like, then i say go for it? what will you be using this bad boy for?
can WF send you an actual photo? im so excited for you!

you are just being picky, of course like all us diamond obsessed freaks can be at times

...the idealscope on that stone tells me that it was cut to be an ACA and for whatever reason...it's like the one I got from WhiteFlash, the numbers are stellar, the images are eye-popping and for whatever reason...it did not make the cut to be a branded stone. GOOD for you (and me) because the price is less but the stone's performance IMO is still visibly the same as if it was branded. Honestly...I compare my stone to Greg's ACA and it looks the same except bigger! visually, your eyes can only pick up so many nuances, so this may be an instance where everything is a GO even though one score isn't absolutely top-notch. but look at that idealscope...that is light return baby!

I know which stone this is, I wanted it SO BADLY when I was doing my purchase with WhiteFlash...it's a great price...but I couldn't justify making a jump and shelling out more $$ at the time with so many other things going on (wedding, house etc). However, I've already warned Greg that my next upgrade will happen within a year...of course asusming all the planets are aligned correctly, hehee. I've got my 30th bday this year..mmmm aligned with Christmas...hehee.

Go for it! I love it..and can't wait to see what you think AND see it in person..woo hoo!

Thanks, everyone, for your input! For such a huge purchase I am super codependent and need EVERYONE's approval before I move forward!

totally understand..look at me with all my questions and need for agreement..and mine were just little ol earrings! youre going to be super happy with it im sure. fantastic find! and you already know what well ask next...pics pics pics!

Gorgeous IS, Lucky. I'd tend to agree with Mara. Looks like this diamond was intended to be an ACA and for what ever infinitesimally picky reason, Brian Gavin felt it did not make the cut in his eyes. If that's true, you're the real winner here. You get the performance of an ACA for a bargain price.
