I discovered this unique cushion cut because of this forum. I am very interested to know your opinion on this particular diamond.

Also I have a question for the group. Why do some aset images appear VERY bright red, almost an unnatural hue of red and others of the same color much dimmer? Is there any correlation between the hue of an ASET image color on one diamond vs. another. Does brightness of the color itself mean it is more beautiful or do the conditions in which the photograph was taken dictate how bright the ASET images appear? Thanks for your thoughts.

This.

You really can''t compare the colors of different images because of differences in setup, lighting and other factors. With ASET images, you just need to look for the individual colors of red, green, blue and white/black (depending on background)

Gorgeous diamond. The J color means that there will be a slight tint to the diamond in some lighting conditions more than others. Make sure you are ok with this before you buy. I think that J color compliments this type of cut very well, but you need to form your own opinions about color.

Colors of ASETs shouls be compared within one image, not between images, for the reasons Jet mentioned.

Thank you both for the clarification on the ASET and the consideration of J color. Puts my mind at ease since the ASET appeared darker to me.
I want a very bright diamond (who doesn''t) and for those who have seen alot of these August cushions, please keep all opinions
coming on the images and specs.

I bought three of them 2 weeks ago. I took them to a local independent appraiser
and she was ''BLOWN AWAY'' by them. She even wrote GOG and posted pics on GOG''s facebook page.
They are back at GOG now being mounted....almost 5 carats worth. Can''t wait:)

Excellent cut stone at a decent pricepoint because it is J color. Just make sure you are okay with the yellow tint as it will definitely be visible espeically looking from the side and in low light conditions. Many people favour the warmth and lower colours in this type of cut but if the wearer wants a colorless diamond I would stick with H and above especially in antique cuts.

gr8smiles, please post a picture of that beast when it is finished. Congratulations and good to know the appraiser was impressed. What color did you buy...just curious b.c. I saw them
on the facebook page and they looked pretty high in color but tough to tell. Good luck with the setting.

chunkycushionlover, I was orignally considering a K, but downsized carat so I could get a better color. Is there a setting that can make these appear whiter? As for the
girlfriend, it is likely that I would be more picky about it than she would. I think she would be happy with a diamond from a gum ball machine. I''m only half kidding.

Well some think that setting lower colors in yellow gold makes the tint less noticeable. My personal suggestion is set it as a solitaire (ie don''t have higher color diamonds beside it).
gr8smiles ring is L color centre with two sides that are K color. You can''t easily tell diamond color from photographs a well taken photograph can hide all warmth and color.

A J colour will show some slight warmth in this shape but it won't be yellow. I would ask Jon what type of setting would be best. Thats a beautiful diamond you have there.

I am very color sensitive and I can notice the color on cushions rated J and below. To me, it is very noticeable regardless of how it is set. I agree that photos and videos do not show color well - I have seen August Vintages in the lower color ranges that show up white in photos but not in real life. Anyways, take what I am saying with a grain of salt .. I am one who got a E August Vintage because of my preference for higher colors.
