Opinion on this unheated deep red natural ruby and price

Late to the chat.
Does the Thai ruby have fluorescence?
I do like the colour and a round cut is certainly less common.
Most rubies are cut to maximise size as colour and glow are important.

Round cut is extremely uncommon. I'm paying a premium to get a round ruby actually. Cushion / oval are offered at even lower prices

No fluor so it doesn’t pop pink and a lower level of scintillation are fair tradeoffs imo when on a budget. Everyone differs tho!

Yes, it means it has fluorescence. Take it out in the sun when you can. If the fluorescence is strong enough, you'll see it light up.

I managed to find the email containing a link to that ruby!

It was around 1.7 carats, unheated, Burmese, eye clean, crystalline, and pinkish red (not pigeon's blood red), with strong flourescence.

When I asked, I sure wasn't expecting it to be 55k USD! But knowing the vendor, I'm sure it's one spectacularly glowy gem!

I'm honestly just terrible at judging gemstones based on videos, but does that midle section look like a window or anything like that? It seems a little less saturated than the rest of the ruby, but I'm not sure if that's just normal. I haven't really looked into rubies much...

And congratulations on your new ruby @Crimson! You have amazing taste in gemstones so I'm sure it's incredible - have you posted any pictures here by any chance?

I think pinkish reds are my favourite type of ruby - I haven't seen many, but the pinkish reds I've seen in person generally seem brighter and more glowy compared to the pure reds. I don't know enough about rubies to know the difference between Mong Hsu and Mogok, but I did quickly look up unheated Mogok ruby...and whew...these pricetags! Do they really look THAT good in person to justify that?

The vibrance and clarity are phenomenal! There is some windowing, as you mentioned, but with untreated Burmese material this fine, it is often forgiven. This location is also famous for more pink-leaning stones. I bet he fluoresces like mad.

6.10 x 6.14 x 3.14mm, 0.96ct, deep red, unheated, Thailand (Chanthaburi region). I changed info a tiny bit in the post just in case it get poached.

It's darker than what I expected from the videos. But even my own phone camera make it brighter (more vivid red) than its actual color, so I can't blame the store. The lab is right for labeling it as deep red.

In bright lighting, it's very stereotypical ruby red: zero secondary shade (no pink/purple/pigeon blood spots), just pure red.

Its inclusions aren't visible with naked eyes. Well, my eyes at least. The color is so deep red that it covers practically all inclusions.

I will keep searching for a bright vivid red ruby that is moderately priced

If you plan on looking for another ruby, I would advise to return it and save a lot of money. A bright vivid red ruby will cost a lot more than 3k
