Opinion on the price of this vintage ring

The setting is pretty, but I am not sure if that is the greatest cut stone. I would offer less than that, but I don't find the price to be way too high or anything. I'd just be sure they have a return policy just in case.

Thanks so much! :) will do.

Oh you're right i only just noticed it doesn't look perfectly round.. should i be concerned?

Bump

Old mine cut diamonds are cushiony in shape

so the fact that an OMC is not perfectly round is not cause for concern. But in the only 1, face-on pic the vendor provides, the diamond faceting looks so hodge-podgey, I fear that upon seeing it, neither you nor anyone else would think, "oh what a sweet little OMC."

Note that the vendor has a skimpy 3-day return policy (vs 10-14 days; even 7 days can be workable). And this vendor has not behaved honorably in transactions with some of the trusted posters on the watch forums I sometimes hang out on, e.g.,

So if your interest is in a complete ring, not just the mounting, I'd give it a pass.

Thanks for that. Yeah the reviews is a bit worrying and also lack of certificate and return policy. I live in Australia also so definitely not enough time for returns. I'll ask them if they can offer a longer return policy. I do love te setting though but like you said its something I need to see in person to determine if the stone cut bothers me or not.

This diamond cut looks much better.

This one does look better. You have to remember (you probably already know this), that OMCs are not going to be perfect. We
like to say that they're going to have their own personality. As long as you like the personality then you're hopefully good.
This one also has a thicker more substantial setting to it. I would ask them how well the diamond performs. Is it bright in
the center or dark? Does it put off flashes of fire? You might ask if they can do a video for you (outside would be nice) showing you
how the stone looks as it moves. I would probably offer less than $950 maybe like $800 and see if they'll go for it. Doesnt hurt
to ask.

Edit...If they cant do a video I would also ask if they can do a picture of it on a finger.

Oops, I didn't realize you live in Australia. Think you'd want a 30-day return period, measured from when you receive it, to eliminate the possibility of paying extra money for a faster return to the US. But I'm hoping you can find some possibilities that are offered by a vendor known & trusted by PSers.

I've asked for more photos. So we'll see what they come back with. They said they can reduce the price to $795 USD. Which is good.
