Hi all,

Just wanted to know what you think of the specs on this diamond; I''m copying as written on the GIA certificate (the diamond is from Bluenile)

0.73 carats
D colour
VVS2 clarity
Very good cut
Depth %: 73.6%
Table %: 73%
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Good
Girdle: Medium to Thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Strong Blue
Measurements: 4.81 x 4.77 x 3.51 mm
Length/width ratio: 1.01
Price: $2182 CAD

This is what Im planning on going with... going to have it appraised when it arrives... but would appreciate any assistance!

Forgot to add it''s princess cut :)

Do you have any images of the stone? ASET or idealscope? That would help the folks here give you a more informed opinion. But if not - hopefully your appraiser can do those?

I'm not particularly impressed with "good" polish..

Are you set on D VVS? You can get a stunningly beautiful stone for far less by dropping colour and clarity a bit.

BN does not provide ASET images, but as AmberGretchen said you can have it appraised - BN has a generous return policy.

I was actually looking for F colour, VS1... but found this stone that was pretty much the equivalent price-wise (due to its fluorescence I''m assuming).
The "good" polish was one of my worries on it actually, as well as the fluorescence. I''ve got 30 days to get the stone privately appraised, just wanted to see peoples opinions. Someone also mentionned that the stone being GIA certified was a good thing, symmetry and polish are evaluated on the higher end?

As its from BN then unfortunately the images we need won''t be forthcoming. All you can do is see what you think when it arrives and get an appraisal. Symmetry and polish are the details of finish of the diamond, they are significant but far more so is the overall cut quality of the diamond and without images we have no way of judging this.
