Opinion On Diamond & Imaging Assistance Sought

I'm seeking opinions on the following diamond (all aspects taken into consideration). If possible, could someone please post a DiamCalc generated image(s) (Lightscope) and a scintillation generated image(s)? I've used HCA (Score of 1.7 - EX/VG/VG/EX) but would like to see the actual modeling. I realize this isn't a substitute for how it would actually perform. Thank you!

I don't think anyone is going to model the diamond for you, but I think you can go to GOG and probably find a diamond with similar specs and see hoe it performs. To me it looks like it is a 60/60 type of stone. Some like that look, others do not. So a search on "60/60" and you will see lots of pros and cons. It also has longer lgf%, which again, some like some don't. Search lgf and see what you see.

Do you have an IS image, magnified picture, or ASET? That is the only way we can really judge the cut quality definitively.

It could be done but really an actual ASET or IS image of the stone would be best. The diamond does have potential, have you seen it in person?

Numbers look good but relatively useless as input to Diamcalc due to the averaging and rounding of the numbers by GIA.

I''ve examined the stone in person and it''s beautifully proportioned (H&A cut), brilliance, etc. - at least to a novice who''s read about a thousand threads on Pricescope (comparing virtually every aspect of the diamond against others, etc.), calculated "ideal" angles and "optimal" inclusion placement of 5-6 candidates based on their GIA certificates, and having only seen a few dozen diamonds before under the loupe. I realize ultimately it will come down to my "subjective" happiness with the diamond but I won''t have the benefit of an IS and/or ASET image or AGS grading prior to purchase (ordering the scopes today they wouldn''t arrive in the time I have remaining). So while I''m "confident" based on all other factors and what I can visually see with the naked eye (+ under 10x); this being my first major diamond purchase, I''m still "nervous". I''m just wanting to make sure I haven''t overlooked anything in the angles/proportion/cut/numbers department.

Here in the UK, buying blind, or screening by numbers, is often necessary.
I have a fairly strict set of screening criteria that I apply to potential purchases that I have to purchase "unseen". Yours has a slightly bigger table and slightly smaler star % than I'd normally regard as "safe" for buying "unseen", but those numbers are only one increment away from what I'd normally accept.

I would be happy to go for that stone, if the seller has a good returns policy (on the small chance that something isn't satisfactory).

It sounds then like it could be worth going forward. Will the IS scope arrive in time for you to check out the diamond within the return period? You can also have it independently appraised during the return period, often a good thing to do, and some of the PS recommended independent appraisers have equipment to do optical analysis. Look under "resources" above for a list of appraisers near you.

I ordered the IS Pro + ASET on Friday so assuming it ships on Monday I should receive it in time... though I haven''t received a confirmation e-mail on the order yet (it is the weekend though) and since it''s so close to Christmas who knows. I have the appraisal from the dealer but of course will be seeking an outside appraisal as soon as I receive the diamond in the temporary setting early this coming week.

I should receive the IS Pro + ASET via UPS tomorrow and will provide images as soon as I can take them (the digital camera I''m using is only 8 megapixel with a 3x optical zoom). In the meantime...

I can find no problem or complaint; it looks just as beautiful as when I first chose it a week ago. I''ve viewed it under bright sunlight, fluorescent, incandescent, candlelight, ultraviolet, and LED lighting and the brilliance is amazing - if fire and scintillation is lacking (very good on HCA) I''m not able to tell. I was impatient about waiting for the IS and ASET to arrive so I went ahead and took the ring to one of the larger standalone chain jewelers near here and asked to use their larger magnification scopes and IdealScope and didn''t see any significant light leakage or other noticeable arrow irregularities. However, I''ll be looking forward to what the IdealScope Pro and ASET scope show. Two salespersons looked at the diamond and remarked what high quality it was and thanked me for allowing them to see "such a pretty diamond"... I thought it a little odd they didn''t even pressure me to consider what they had to offer there at the store knowing I was within my return grace period, etc. So as it stands now, I''m very pleased with my selection.
