I’m considering a cushion cut engagement ring but am completely unfamiliar with what to look out for in terms of stone quality etc.
It’s .75 E/VVS2. I cant see it in real life as it’s a preloved beauty.
These are the best photos I have - not sure why they are at top of post, sorry!
Any advice would be very appreciated.
Back to housework, I have to stop looking at all the beautiful rings on PS, I’m getting nothing done!

To evaluate fancy cut stones, folks will need a video. You should buy a ASET and take images to look at light return. But, based on the lower image, I would have concerns about this stone. Also, the entire ring is torqued. Maybe they used a special lens like a fish-eye to take the bottom photo?? But, it appears that the stone is not sitting square into the setting. Either they set it crooked or the setting is damaged or they used some weird photo-shop/lens tool. Generally not things that give me confidence.

Hoping other PS members chime in.

Oh that doesn’t sound promising at all. Thanks rockysalamander, I hadn’t noticed any of what you pointed out, I’m a bit clueless about what to look for TBH. Might be best if I stick to my original plan which was a round brilliant cut solitaire. Perhaps you and other PScopers could guide me in the right direction when I find something? Thanks again for your help.
