Scores well on the HCA, actually (1.0). Can you get an idealscope image?

An ideal scope on that diamond is going to show solid or virtually solid red which many layman would look at and say GREAT! Truth is a diamond like this is going to produce a lot of head/body shadow in diffuse and/or natural daylighting and would take a hit in brightness & contrast or what GIA would term "patterned scintillation". To it's credit it would likely be fiery though in spot lighting.

I'm sure this topic has been done to death before but Jon, can you please explain how you came to this conclusion (without getting overly technical)?

The pavilion angle is a little low. Increasing it to 40.6 would put it into the GIA Ex range. This is a case where the assumptions behind the HCA tool differ from both GIA and AGS in terms of what makes a top cut.

Thank you everyone for your response and expertise! Much appreciated. Jon, I've watched your videos online and really appreciate your expertise! Texan Leaguer mentioned something I had noticed-a pavilion angle of 40.6 would put this diamond in the Excellent Cut category. All of the other specs for this diamond fall under excellent cut, however, because it has a pavilion angle of 40.2, it's considered a Very Good cut. Does a 0.4 difference in pavilion angle make a huge difference in terms of visual optics?

I should add that I've already purchased this diamond months ago. I cant help but second guess this diamond because it has been labeled Very Good rather than Excellent. It certainly is eye clean but I cant say its mind clean. I"m looking to get some reassurance that I didnt buy a crappy diamond. I wish I would have found this website sooner! :wall:
