I am starting to look at purchasing look diamonds, and I think I'm interested in diamonds in the 1.2-1.3 carat range. I found this diamond online, and was curious to get opinions on the quality and price of this diamond?

Proportions look ok, but thats really all we can tell you without an Ideal scope. Can you get additional images? As far as price comparisons, you can do a quick search by using the PS diamond search located under the 'resources tab' at the top of the page and compare your stone to others with similar cut color and clarity.

100%.

Remember that numbers like 41 and 33 are averages of many separate measurements. If the diamond has pavilion angles which stray from 40.6 to 41.6 degrees (that averages 41) it is problematic, whereas if it ranges from 40.8 to 41.2 it's not a problem. What's more... With table, CA and PA you're only accounting for 17 facets. The diamond has 57 total - or 58 with a culet present.

thanks for the feedback. those diamonds look good from james allen.

after researching a bit more, i think i'd like to spend around $10,000 for the stone. as far as the attributes of the stone, i'd like the following:

size: 1.2-1.45 carat
cut: excellent; i'm still learning what to look for in cut; to me, it seems the most complicated of the various factors; but it sounds like i should get an image of the diamond with idealscope to see the quality of the cut;
clarity: vs2-si1; i'd basically like to not be able to see inclusions with unaided eye; so, i'd prefer as low as possible (to save on money), but not be able to see the inclusions
color: D-F; i'd prefer the stone to be as colorless as possible; but again, if it's hard to discern by eye, i'd prefer to go lower on this metric

any other tips on what to look for? i'm trying to get the highest quality diamond to the unaided eye, but trying to get as big as possible, with those constraints. and, would prefer closer to 1.5 carats, but fine with anything over 1.2 carats or so.

is there a link for recommended online retailers? i notice there are sponsored vendors; but, is there a link that includes a general consensus of some of the better online retailers (with competitive prices)?

thanks for all your help!

i was originally thinking that blue nile was a good place to buy, but it sounds like it could be hard to find some of the information necessary to evaluate the diamond through blue nile, such as idealscope.
