Hello All,

I came across this forum which was recommended to me by a friend. I'm starting to look more into buying a loose diamond. After doing a bit of research within my budget I've narrowed my search to around

Cut: Round
Carat: 1.35-1.45
Color: G-H
Clarity: VS1-VS2

I came across this diamond that caught my eye and wanted to seek your opinion on it.

Certificate:GIA
Shape: Round
Carat weight:1.40
Color:G
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Excellent
Polish:Excellent
Symmetry:Excellent
Depth %:62.10
Girdle: Medium-Medium
Table %:58.00
Culet:None
Fluorescence:None
Crown ∠: 35.50
Pavilion ∠:41.20
L/W/D (mm): 7.19*7.16*4.45

I plugged the specs into the HCA calculator and it gave me a score ~4.6 which from what I heard is rather high. How important is this HCA score? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Any other general info about rounds I should look for will also be appreciated.

a 4.6 hca score is a bit high. You want to keep it around a 2....Have you seen it in person? My personal preference is to have a table size of 55-57 and depth no more than 62.3 and crown 34ish and pavillion 40.5ish...What's your budget?

I'd also recommend skipping that one. These measurements usually will land you in ideal cut territory:

Table: 54-58

Depth: 60-62.3

Crown angle: 34.0-35.0

Pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

Thank you both for the info. Ideally I would like to spend ~$15,000 but would not like to go above $17,000.
