I am looking to purchase a 1.75 round brilliant cut diamond and came across one that scores a perfect 1.0 HCA. Here are the details:

1.72, J VVS2, XXX, Strong Blue Florescence, Price: 10,034
Table 58
Depth 61.1
Crown Angle 34
Pavilion Angle 40.8

7.68 x 7.72 x 4.71

Any thoughts on this stone would be appreciated!

Do you have any pictures or videos? The numbers look good, but I likely wouldn't want to pay the premium for VVS clarity.

This diamond is at Blue Nile so I only have the 360 degree photo of it on their website.

I found a second diamond for comparison.

XXX, no florescence

Table 57
Depth 61.7

do you need to stick with BN?

No but they have stones within the budget of 11k total including the mounting.

Gotcha, makes sense! What mounting are you looking at? I can try to find some alternative stones that would meet your budget. Vendors like James Allen, Adiamor, etc, likely have mountings for a similar price (again, just depends on which on you are looking at).

Thanks you. I am looking at a classic six prong platinum mounting.

Adiamor has a 6 prong setting, but in plat it's almost 1400 (eek!)

Here are some stone options (these would potentially make you go over 11K once added together + tax, but will be close).

At James Allen they also have the Tiffany style solitaire (also 1400+ in plat), https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...ife-edged-solitaire-engagement-ring-item-2426

I LOVE this stone so much (though it would be necessary to see the certificate): https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...or-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-8656731?a_aid=ps

Another potentially nice choice (but again need to request the cert, and I dont love paying extra for VVS): https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...s1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-8456282?a_aid=ps

All of these are good options! I requested the certificate on the one you love. Why do you love this stone More than the other options?

Not sure why I like it more than the others TBH. Something about the video just captures my attention and I find the proportions appealing. @flyingpig and others who understand AGS certs better than I do: why does the image look kind of wonky? Proportions look solid, and the stone itself looks great to me, but the image on the cert gives me pause.

It looks wonky because of red table reflection in the middle (from 40.8 PA, normal), blue circle around the table reflection (from AGS 33 degree obstruction, normal) and green around the edges from dugout girdle (a bit excessive to my taste)
