Opinion between two vintage cushions

I really think you should see it in person for yourself.

What would bug us is irrelevant.

I personally would be happy with anything I couldn't see as long it wasn't structural, which this isn't.

Thanks Gypsy.
Unfortunately, I'm in Australia so can't head to NYC. But I did get a couple of my friends to look at it, they couldn't see anything with the naked eye. The only thing they said was that the 2.24 "looked" more rectangular than the 2.01, even though they have the same l/w ratio.
Mark from ERD said he'll send me a pic of the two diamonds side by side tomorrow.

Given what you said I suspect you will be okay. Most people don't examine diamonds very closely. And even if they DO look at it closely they probably wouldn't recognize an inclusion anyways ::) If you don't tell her where the inclusion is located -- and for goodness sakes DON"T tell her -- then she will probably never see it. I am only concerned about inclusions when the intended wearer knows a lot about diamonds and likes to look at their diamonds with a loupe. Or, like I have been known to do  , likes to look at their diamonds at 3-4 inches squinting and peering at just the right angle in low lighting. If you don't think she plans to do those things, most likely you are fine. For the small chance the diamond is an issue, you can always exchange it with ERD (albeit with a hassel).

To be 100% safe, you can look for a stone without any under table inclusions. But I sure do like the looks of that 2.24. And the blazing white color is a big plus.

Here's a picture of the two side by side. The 2.24 does look bigger in the photo but I wonder how much of a difference it'll look in real life on a ring?

looking at the dimensions. when set, there will still be a noticeable difference visible between the two.

I really love that larger stone. I prefer the faceting and shape of it not just the size.

I also prefer the faceting and shape of the 2.24. IN a VS2 I am even less concerned personally about the under-table inclusions.

gotta vote with the others- I much prefer the faceting in the 2.24 diamond.

Does one look more like a "cushion" than the other?

My plan is to set in a Tiffany Novo setting. Will one look "better" than the other in this setting?

I haven't decided if I'll get it set with ERD or someone else, or here in Australia yet.

THIS THIS THIS

OP when you say does one look more cushiony I think you mean that it has more of a pillowy outline to it. Many ppl on PS seek out this specific look on PS- I might be baised as I'm one of them. Ultimately I think both diamonds are gorgeous, but my eye is really drawn to the larger one. Not because of size but the faceting and shape is vastly more appealing to me then the 2.01ct.

Goodluck with your choice.

EDIT- and FWIW I would go with ERD for the setting. They do amazing settings that I have always been inpressed with. Another reason why I would go with them is if something does happen during the setting process (which i doubt would but you never know) you don't have to deal with shipping/ insurance etc. I'm a big fan of making things simple.

I think for the Tiffany Novo setting, I'd want a cushion that was as squarish as possible. I would not personally want a rectangular cushion for that. I love antique style cushions very much, and all of these would be nice. But just for the sake of accuracy, the ASET on the GOG stone was clearly better than the 2 ct G in the center. It's hard to beat ideal light performance. Anyway, I actually think the 2 ct G is more symmetrical than the 2.24 between the ERD stones. But greater size versus symmetry/better clarity is sometimes a hard choice!

But, for a Novo setting, I'd be choosing a shape like this one:

DS-that's one of the things that drew me to AVC's originally, the light performance. It's like they're alive.
