Opinion between two vintage cushions

Hi everyone,
I have started looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and stumbled upon Pricescope and have been searching through the site for MULTIPLE hours and days! Having known nothing about diamonds, your site has been amazing with useful information!

I have decided to go for a cushion cut diamond, with my initial parameters being:
Color: G or higher
Clarity: VS1 or higher
Carat: 2 (or higher)
L/W ratio: more rectangular

After looking online, I decided the more vintage chunky look is prettier than the modern look (and spoke to a couple of my girlfriend's friends and they agree she would like a vintage cut more).
So, after looking at different sites, I contacted both ERD and GOG. Both have been very nice and have suggested a diamond.
The GOG one is a AVC 2.02 I VS2:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8214/

The ERD one is a "a cut beyond" 2.01 G VS1, old mine brilliant cut, 7.65X7.02X4.90mm, Ex polish, VG sym, NF, 48% table, 698% depth. Mark has sent me the GIA, photos and ASET of the diamond (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them here? I can put them up if it's okay). This diamond costs slightly more than the GOG.

Both diamonds seem very similar in specs, but the GOG being an I color. I'm not able to see the diamonds myself as I live overseas but they both appear to be eye clean.

I don't know if my initial parameters are too strict but it does seem to be harder to come by a nice chunky vintage cushion online.

I was wondering what people thought about between these two diamonds? Is there anything else I should be looking for?
Thanks so much!

id put that stone on hold! dont let somebody snatch it while you decide

That GOG stone is beautiful. I'd be very happy with that! Great choice.

Can you post the link to the ERD stone?

There's no link to the ERD stone as it hasn't been posted yet, but Mark has sent me photos/ASET. I can try posting them here if I'm allowed (sorry, not sure of the forum rules and don't want to get into trouble!).

You're allowed to post pictures and aset images...

Okay, thanks. I'll try now.

Both gorgeous stones! Can't go wrong!

I agree that both are beautiful...but the ERD aset looks better to me, so that'd be my choice. You're spending a lot of money, so you can afford to be picky...if it were me, I'd take issue with the leakage in the center of the GOG stone when compared to the ERD stone.

I'm partial to AVC's b/c that's what I have, so that's the one I'd choose. They appeal to my eyes (and heart) more than other vintage cushions.

My eye prefers the cut and the ASET of the ERD stone - ASET appears beautifully well distributed and I love that shape!

GOG Is awesome too - totally! - but I just am drawn to the ERD.

I love the AVC but the ERD stone is stunning!

Both are beautiful stones. But btw I/VS2 and G/VS1 if price are comparable, I would definitely get the G/VS1!

I really like the ERD one!

That ERD one is fabulous.

Another vote for the ERD!! It's gorgeous!

Love the ERD stone  That one gets my vote.

Thanks everyone for their opinions!
I'm hoping to get a friend to take a look at the ERD diamond this week in NYC and keep you posted.

AAAHHHHH!!!!
So, Mark was kind enough to show a couple friends living in NYC the diamond. However, he also showed another diamond,

http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/2.24-carat-f-vs2-a-cut-beyond-cushion-cut-diamond-gid-127878.html

which is a 2.24ct F VS2, 8.15X7.5mm. It does have a few inclusions in the center of the diamond however (GIA cert), but supposedly eye clean. And it has a slightly smaller culet.

This new diamond is $4500 more.

I'm now torn. To either go with the original ERD diamond (2.01 G VS1) or this new one. The 2.24 is bigger but I wonder if the center inclusions will bug me, even just knowing that they're there!

Ideas/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Totally up to you!!! That new stone is quite a bit bigger.....so if 4500 is worth it to have something that much bigger, GO FOR IT!!! We're huge fans of the bigger stone here...so long as the cut is stunning (which ERD doesn't offer anything less).

Oh, and your concern about the clarity, Mark will tell you honestly about the clarity, so just ask him.

I'd take the new one. That's a LOT Of size you are getting for the 4,500. And I prefer the faceting on it. If you can afford it. Get it sent to you, see what you think of it, if you love it... move forward, if you don't return.

I saw that one personally while I was in NY this past week. It is beautiful and eye clean to me. I was debating btw that one and another. In the end I chose the bigger one. Hope that help you make the decision.

Anyway to see them in person before you decide? Little trip to NY?

PreCiouSJeWeL920,
Thanks, just to clarify, did you see the 2.24ct diamond? And did you choose your diamond just because it was bigger or did it have a better clarity?

Actually Mark had six diamonds all F/VS2 except one SI1, all in 2.5 ct range with this 2.24 being smallest to show me. If you check my thread that I started earlier, I was in the market looking for one cushion in 2.5 ct range. I received a 2.61ct H/VS1, but wasn't too happy with the color. Hence I increased my perimeters to see just F/VS s. I had six of them lined up in front of me, I picked this 2.24 and my original 2.61. Slept on it for a few days. In real life the color difference is negligent. I still love the size 2.61 better. So in the end, I let this 2.24 go. Both are eye clean. So that wasn't the issue.

Here is the last picture that mark sent me right before I made up my mind. Actually, my mind made up in the office already but just to confirm. Hehe. The left is the 2.24. Hope that helped you

Thanks for the comparison photos! That's a lovely diamond!
I've asked for a comparison photo of the 2.01 and the 2.24ct cushions so I can see the actual difference.

Does anyone find having a central inclusion bothering even if it is eye clean?

How familiar is your girlfriend with diamonds? Is she an eagle eye?

I think she has the basic understanding of diamonds (eg. 4 c's), which would have been much more than me before I did my reading on PS.
She doesn't have any large diamonds, she has small princess cut diamond earrings that she got when she was a teenager. She also has a diamond pendant necklace (I think around 0.5ct?).
