I have stumbled onto another. I do not understand how to read the image below, but gray indicates leakage apparently and from what I'm learning, that's a bad thing. What do you think of this stone? I don't understand how light performance can read ideal, yet show so much gray on the image?

Thank you!

This appears to be JA True Heart Cushion.
It is a AGS0. Its light return is very strong for a cushion cut diamond.
But for a JA True Heart Cushion, it is not the best.

This is one of the worst ones.

Notice large grey areas in ASET. Notice glassiness, mushiness, and yellow tint around the edges of the table facet. This is leakage.

This is one of better ones.

Alot of red in ASET. Crisp facets and light return. No mushiness. It is very white throughout. No yellow tint face up, despite being K color. Minimum leakage

The one you posted is somewhere in between these two. Still a solid stone.

I saw the 0.65 J this am and was going to post, glad you found it! but I agree with everything @flyingpig said and I am in love with the K cushion shared. It looks to be a very bright diamond and especially because you are considering rose gold, it may be a great match!

-- What do you think about the depth? I know nothing about these things lol, but all the internet "guidelines" say 70 as max... but I love this one. Does that depth hurt/effect anything?

Thanks!!

70 max is a general guideline, however this is an AGS000 stone and with most cushions actual performance trumps any "general guidelines". All that it means is that the stone will face up slightly smaller for a 0.7ct, but we are really talking a 0.1mm maybe. You can see that the measurements are similar to the 0.65ct cushion. However, due to the edge to edge brilliance, this stone will appear larger than the average 0.7ct cushion! With the presumed budget, I really like this option despite the K color!

Thank you all for your help! I am in your debt!

And so, I went with flyingpig's advice on the .72 k color. I hadn't considered k before.

So I am a happy camper! :) I am so glad I found this forum and the helpful people here. Now, my next question concerns the setting, but I'll start a new thread so as to not get this overly confusing. Thanks again!

ok..

There are different styles of cushion cut diamonds. Some are deeper than others. JA TH cushion cuts are deep. You get slightly less diameter or spread, in comparison with other cushion cuts.
JA TH cushion's light reflections are tiny and splintery.

Before you proceed any further, I would like to let you know of this.

amazing spread at 5.30mm instead of 5.04mm.
Look at the diagrams on the reports. You get more realestate in terms of spread and volume above the girdle with AVC. JA TH, in contrast, is bottom heavy.
Bold and large reflections instead of splintery reflections.
Of course, August Vintage Cushion is more expensive.

I won't say which is better. It is just a matter of personal preference.
But I think K color goes better with vintage style cut stones.

And so... we have a ring -- err, I mean my boyfriend has the ring. I haven't seen it in person. He says it is beautiful. I'm sorry for the low quality res pic, but here it is:

I'd like to thank @flyingpig and @SimoneDi for your help and feedback! I very much look forward to seeing this on my finger lol. Perhaps it is a trick of the angle, but the stone appears larger than I expected. It is the one that flyingpig referred to above as "one of the better ones."

Thanks again.

Ah! The ring looks stunning! Even though it is not the bestest of photos, it really looks very, very pretty! The rose gold compliments beautifully the warm tones of the diamond. I can’t wait to see it on your finger!

Thank you @SimoneDi - you are so very kind. The pic is awful lol. As much as I wanted to pester him for more pics, I knew his Samsung S4 set on who knows what res wasn't going to get me anything better lol. Bless his heart, he just does not care about technology at all lol. Thanks again. I'll post up some pics once we're engaged. Wow, can't believe I just said that. =)2

I almost think that it is better that he couldn’t provide you with a better photo because now you will be really blown away once you see the ring! I am so excited for your upcoming engagement! All the best to you both!
