Yep, although they are so delicate that the stone looks like it''s just suspended there! I love the Caleb Meyer piece too. I just wish I''d seen something of this other than on his website.
I''m not so worried about the amount of metal so much as darkening the stone. You know? The problem with most of these is that they are set with diamonds, so I''d have no idea about colored stones.
I''m sad I went to Caleb''s site though--now I''m obsessed!
I understand your concern, however, only the girdle is bezeled. The entire pavilion is open to the light! These settings are actually much less coverage than a basket setting would be.
Freke, that 1st one you posted of Caleb''s is the 1st setting I fell in love with on his site. (The profile is what got me!!) The one I then decided on originally was #1130. I think I''ve posted the picture in here about 10 times haha! BUT, they only work w/their own stones. Couldn''t hurt to ask tho, if it''s a setting you are really in love with-maybe they''d make an exception? A few of us have tried to get a CM and were told the same thing. After my disappointment, I ended up choosing his dad, Jim-he does work w/outside stones. So, when it''s all said and done, my spinel will be a combo of Coati''s and AJ''s JM.
